aking the grade has been one of the most important aspects of 1985. Academic superi¬ ority prevails throughout the disciplines and the student body. Individual scholars are in abundance. Even our own handful of geniuses are accommodated by our high academic standings. National Honor Societies and Na¬ tional Merit Scholars numbered far above previous years. The battles of class rank and college acceptances became harsher and more competitive. Honor roll lists grew from few to many names. Academic excellence was evident throughout 1985. Underclassmen, the bulk and character of Winchester High, illustrate a yearly development, mentally as well as physically. The Freshmen arrived as an innocent addi¬ tion to our school. Sophmores grew in knowledge and gained experience through their transition from ninth to tenth grade. The Juniors, being an established fixture of our school, continue from day to day, waiting for the ultimate step of becoming a Senior. 4 A Step Above the Rest
