FOOLS! fOOLS! FOOLS! Curtain Cue treated its audience to another outstanding performance with its fall production of the comedy ' Fools ' . On Nov. 29 and 30, and Dec. 1, the Winches¬ ter High stage was transformed into the Russian village of Kulyenchikov, a village cursed with idiocy. Leon Tolchinsky ar¬ rives in the village to break the curse, and his arrival brings with it hilarious results. The character of Leon was played by Ben Keller, with supporting roles played by Margaret Hitchcock, Denise Preston, Chris Duffy, Kristen Kelley, and others. Often, during stage productions such as ' Fools’, an important part of the crew is overlooked; the stage crew. Without the stage crew, which was under the leader¬ ship of Pat Berkeley, the show would not have gone on. Curtain Cue offers students a chance to perform, to learn about dramatics, and to take part in the various aspects of play production. Judge ' ' Chris Duffy and Dr.” Andy Laats rehearse yet another corny joke from Fools . Ron Purdy and Will Hunter help to construct the complex set of Fools”. 22 Curtain Cue

The Jazz Band is a selective group of students which must be auditioned by the director to participate in the group. Its 1984-85 members include Tom Cross, Eric Krussell, Dan Cummings, Eric Farro, Charlotte Reece, Greg Johnson, John Bruno, Seth Rosen- burger, Mike Blasi, Louis Sampson, Scott Kessell, Cindy Card, Bob Driscol, and Jason Boone. (Photo by W.H.S. Photo Club) The Orchestra is composed of a group of students who rehearse and perform at the highest quality level possible. This picture was taken when they played for a luncheon at the Elyatt Regency in Cambridge in late November. (Photo by Wes Schmale) OM THC RIGHT K€Y The WHS Music Department is one of the best in the state, producing some fan¬ tastic musical talent. For the first time our Orchestra combined with thejunior High Orchestra — thus producing a large group with an even greater amount of talent. Again the Band made another great trek, this time to Atlanta GA to participate in the 1984 Peach Bowl Festivities. Once again, the Jazz Band (the Cream of the crop’’ in the Music D epartment), played select Jazz pieces for us at the Winter and Spring Concerts. Also successful was the WHS Orches¬ tra which participated in many public per¬ formances such as a performance at the Hyatt Regency, and at the Jr. High School. Both musical groups have many extremely talented musicians who will bring their talents with them wherever they go after High School. Another talented musical group at WHS is the Concert Choir which must perform at engagements outside of High School and on their own time. Clearly, there is an abundance of musical talent at Winchester High School. This talent is shown through the accomplishments of the W.H.S. Marching Band, Orchestra, and Concert Choir. 24 Orchestra, Jazz Chorus
