Playing Alive in ’85 While Leave it to Beaver” keeps the band in step, this year ' s half-time shows are observed by such honored guests as James Bond, Magnum P.I., and Michael Jackson Welcomed and organized by Ms. Miller and the drum majors, such up-to- date hits are the key to a successful season. D.C. in ’83” was the beginning ot a com¬ petitive tradition. These expectations con¬ tinue with the band’s acceptance to the Peach Bowl to be held in Atlanta, Georgia the last week in the ’84 year. What is seen everytime a crowd of spir¬ ited Sachems gather? Sachem painter’s caps!! Not only do these colorful addi¬ tions brighten our spirits, but they are a vital factor in the fund raising efforts to send our band to Georgia. Supporting these efforts, the band is holding a stu¬ dent-run auction. Helping Ms. Miller in the planning of these activities are the drum majors Matt Kennedy, Tim McDougall, Margaret Matheson, and Jennifer Crockett. These leaders bring the individual members to¬ gether, forming a vivacious musical team. Every member is important. It’s a good chance to be with your friends and work together. At the same time you have fun!” remarks Ginny Askew. Although Ginny relates the better points of belonging to the unseen dedica¬ tions each member undertakes. This time and energy does not go unnoticed, we, those who enjoy their weekly perfor¬ mances have become their greatest fans. Summing up the feeling of being a per¬ former, Suzanne Perlitsh exclaims, It is a great feeling to increase the school spirit when performing on the half-time field.” In step with the beat, the Sachem marching band prepares for our prize-winning half-time show.
