Tradition ... The tradtions that make up our lives are not just confined to the school. In the community of Win¬ chester where we have spent the first part of our lives, our mark is clear. Not only does our Sachem symbol adorn the school front, it has infiltrated numerous town lo¬ cations. The spirit of youth and pride represented by that Sachem has renewed the old traditions of Winchester with the spark of new ideas. Even just by looking at the town with its paradoxical blend of sturdy, traditional buildings and modern concrete and glass structures, one can see the transi¬ tion toward the future which dominates all areas of our lives. It is our responsibility to maintain and improve the high quality tra¬ ditions that have characterized the spirit of Winchester for so long. The town hall, as seen from the high school is typical of Winchester ' s older, more sedate architecture. The brand new bank overlooking Wedge Pond illustrates the development towards modernitiy. The Aberjona, flowing by the high school, carries the images of the traditional New England church spire. 4 Opening
