'v mr- 9 this year and her capability, cheerfulness, and general attractiveness makes her a pleasant sight to see upon entering the office. MR. RAYMOND HAYWARD. Witty? Yes! Clever? But definitely! Learned? Uh-huh! Interesting? Mais oui! In short, hels terrific, sensational, collosal, and then some. This human dynamo not only teaches English to numerous Sophs and Seniors, but also finds time to shine in Ping-Pong and billiards, guide the A. A. with an unfaltering hand, supervise the Handbook production, and write numerous jingles and gags for the Vaudeville Show and Banquet. In short, there is no organization in school which doesn't count on his support, any faculty member who fails to respect his ability and skill, or any student who doesn't thing he's grand. Miss MARY HITDELSON. Way out west where men are men and women are very sweet is the home of our dashing young business teacher, Miss Hudelson, who hails from Kansas. This attractive woman was the human dynamo who pushed the sales of the Recorder up to undreamed of heights, and it was her personality alone that cajoled advertisers into parting with well-hoarded money. In short, we welcome to Winchester a peppy newcomer - a great advocate of mountain, climbing and one swell person. MR. ROBERT M. KEENEY. Strength of character, poise, diplomacy, and humor mark Mr. Keeney as a swell fellow. He is noted for being the perfect host, but insists on his easy chair and cigar after doing the odd jobs in and around his abode. However, when it comes to giving out A's he is very shy as many of his students already know. Nevertheless we all think no changei' Keeney is a swell fellow, so here is a toast to Jake Keeney, the pillar of wisdom and strength in the Winchester High School. Miss INEZ KELLER. Only those who are artistically inclined have come in close contact with Miss Keller, who directs tl1e school in Arts and Crafts. This attractive teacher his unusually capable and more than a little versed in the subject which she instructs. Because her periods are informal and progressive, many students elect Arts and Crafts and none of them are sorry, for Miss Keller is not only kind and helpful but also a good friend to have. Miss HAZEL KINGSLEY. The competent instructor who presides in the Art room, Miss Kingsley, is not only instructor to the High School geniuses, but also heads the Art department of all Winchester schools. So busy is she with 'her students that we rarely see any of her work, but rumors have it that her water-coloring is super'b. Pleasing, interesting rand able - Miss Kingsley is all right. Miss ETHEL KNOWLTON. A flash of white teeth, a twinkle in her eye, a torrent of French that we can't understand,- clothes tres chic, charm and all that! We mean you, Miss Knowlton. Mademoiselle is the management behind the annual class play, and the Seniors are enabled to have their prom and class night activities only because of 'her capable and enthusiastic work. Altogether happy, cheerful, friendly and gay - in short, an ideal pal, Miss Knowlton is, to use the vernacular, a peach! ' MR. GEORGE LAUER. Not only the maker of teams but also a moulder of men is Coach Lauer, the good-looking, muscular fellow who is so largely responsible for Winehester's fine athletic squads and for the fine spirit dis- played in the past two years. A polished and humorous assembly' speaker, C for further information see J. D. Stevensj, and a man greatly interested in a studentfs problems. besides being one of the main factors in the success of A. A. activities, Mr. Lauer has become indispensable to W. H. S. Miss AMY IJAWSON. When one thinks of the oifice one thinks of Miss Lawson, and when one thinks of Miss Lawson, one has a vision of a pretty,

I Q ..,.-s-- rf I . ' Q 'i' xi Miss BETH CLARK. Another charmante et belle French teacher is Miss Clark, the lovely-voiced young lady who wears such pretty clothes, and who instructs the Freshmen in the fundamentals of English and French. She seems a bit distant to the casual observer 'but those who know her know also that she has a wonderful disposition, a fine sense of humor, and is a thoroughly charming person. MRS. ESTELLE CorF1N in dashes - a good teacher - lots of fun - in- teresting and humorous - quiet and poised - possessing a beautiful com- plexion and pretty brown eyes - easy to get along' with and easy to please - in short, perfect Freshman instructor, and one whom the lower classmen idolize. MR. F. MRRRDITH COOPER. Last year New Haven gave us that tall, manly economist, that beau brummel, that capable, efficient gentleman plus - Mr. Cooper. He is the guiding spirit who rules the roost in room 17, and he has ably directed the Problems of Democracy and European History classes through a diificult year. To you, Mr. Cooper, we extend our thanks and wish you many years of success. MR. COTTON, you 're popular! There 's no ,getting away from it - and you always will be because of your swell personality, your knack of doing everything well, your wish to do it all for the other fellow, and your fairness which is only surpassed by your brains and ability. Ma.ine lost one grand fisherman and hunter when you 'came to us, W. H. S. lost a great teacher when the Problems Classes no longer he-ard those fine discussions - but then we gained our first and best guidance director' All the losing in the world is worth finding someone like you! I Z M MR. ALLAN Cox, our crackergack teacher who drills ge ra nto 'the somewhat dazed brains of the Freshmen, is Winchester High 's claim to ex- tensive knowledge combined with a pleasing personality. Mr. 'Cox, although one would never suspect it until one saw a merry eye twinkling behind those forbidding glasses, has a super sense of 'humor and understands students from A to Z. To quote one of the first classmen: All in all, he's a darned nic-e fellow. MR. FREDERIC DELZELL. Dapper Delzell is the attractive, suave young man who has moulded the orchestra into an institution at Winchester since his arrival at school two years ago. The man with the baton has become popular, not only with ihis musicians, but also with every student and faculty member who comes in contact with him, and the success of the assembly which he gives every year is due largely to his pleasing personality. MR. SAMUEL M. GRAVES. Popularity, personality, pleasantnsss, and pol- itics - mix equal portions of these elements together and add a grand sense of humor and superb fairness. Pour mixture into a pan greased with superior knowledge of everything from Ancient History to the present day situ-ation and heat Well. The result will be Mr. Graves - one of the best, better than the rest. MISS VERNE HALL. A lovely complexion, an attractive smile, and a sweet disposition are the main characteristics of this pretty lady with the pretty name. Miss Hall has onl-y' been with us for three years, yet already has es- tablished herself as an excellent teacher of both French and History, as a friend to any deserving student and as a good sport who makes school work interesting as school work can be. Miss MARGARET HANNON. Last year she was Peggy, the friend in need to everyone in school who wanted someone's homework to copy, and this year she's Miss Hannon, still a friend to everyone, but now exalted to the post of Secretary in the oifice. Peggy has done a grand job helping Miss Lawson

, rw- We f V--1 7' -W If ff 41 ' I I O U well-dressed girl who has charm all her own and a lovely personality. Ex- tremely profficient in her difficult work of managing the office, listening to students tales of woe, and numerous other jobs all at once Miss Lawson is our idea of the perfect young lady. MR. Oris LEARY. Most of Mr. Leary's spare time is spent in the Junior High where his work necessarily keeps him busy. yet he is liked and respected 7 by every member of the High School - especially the boys who have become proficient in woodworking and mechanical drawing under his skilled direction. There is only one way to describe Mr. Leary - a good sport - when that is said, all is said. Miss MARY MAGKEDON. 'tWhy take life seriously? You never get out of ,it alivei' asks this trim, charming, and frightfully popular professor with the twinkling eyes and infectious giggle, who makes our French class the most interesting and entertaining period of the day. Miss Mackedons at- traction extends outside of school to such an extent that students beco-me close friends of hers after graduation, and there is hardly a fellow in school now who doesn't know her telephone number. To summarize her we might call her an excellent teacher, a strict but not too strict Htaisez-vouser and the possessor of the plus nicest personality in Winchester. MR. KENNETH MEINKI9. The underclassmen say hels simply wonderful, the actors who have met him in connection with the play think hefs superb, and the athletes who have come .in contact with his dynamic personality in Ping- Pong pronounce him o.k', - So we gather he's slightly supldr-colossal. Mr. Meinke came to us this year and already has made a name for himself by leading the annual play to a successful finish, by starting a table 'tennis clu'b and simply by making Latin Cof all thingsj particularly interesting to his students. To be brief, all we can say is that we wish he 'd come a little sooner. Miss GLADYS E. NIVEN. The supreme guiding hand behind the excellent lunches which are served to us every day, and the capable brain which kee-ps the cafeteria running smoothly, makes personality classes so vitally inter- esting, both belong to the one-, the only, the original Miss Niven. This member of the faculty has a wonderfully even disposition, always having a ready smile and bright word for everyone, and ever possessing some new bit of interesting information to transmit to her eager class. Miss VIRGINIA R. OWEN. Undoubtedly the most popular room in the school in the library, and surely the ideal teacher to fit into this room is Miss Owen. Miss Owen of the sunny disposition, the friendly and helpful nature, and the ability, capability, and dependability which make up a good teacher. This pleasant librarian possesses bounteous knowledge both of books and of people, and her personality which is unsurpassed has made her popular with the faculty and students alike. Miss EVA PALMER is a person who always has a friendly greeting for everyone. It is a real pleasure to come back to school after being sick, for you are always met with kindness and sympathy when she gives you your admittance slip. Her classes are run in an informal and friendly way and in math period not math only is taught but English, geography, science, history, Greek, and Latin. When you have once been in her class, you are not forgotten afterward, but become one of her hosts of friends to be held in a special place in her heart. Besides her teaching she takes care of the attendance, keeps the records in the office, and is dean of the girls. When Winchester High loses Miss Palmer, it will lose more than ever can be replaced. Miss FLORENCE A. PARKER. The power behind the Senior Class activities, the modest lady with the grand sense of humor, and the possessor of a person-
