... The classes decided to build traps to see if they could catch someone doing the suspicious things that were happening (top middle left). Because she was acting suspicious, Cari Shaw was questioned to see if she knew anything (middle). Jill Symons was caught running away. Did she do it? No one knows. During the search, we found that the whole student body had something to do with the spirit of WC. With only a dead body, on and on went the search. The spirit will remain haunting the halls, and the spirit of the student body will always live on at WC. The following pages show how the spirit of the entire student body is expressed throughout the 1982-83 school year. 7f'r t Watching y on! Introduction — 5

Not only were people searching the halls and in the tunnel, but also checking to find fingerprints for evidence (bottom right). Forensic methods were used to determine the cause of death, but this also proved fruitless. The faculty was really getting upset. Anyone who might look the least bit guilty was asked if they knew anything about the mysterious incident. Mr. Hedden used his physical ability to find out if “certain people knew certain things” (right). It was decided that the boys’ physical education class looked the most guilty, so therefore, they were tortured during P.E. (bottom left). These tortures were anything from Killers”, running up and down the bleachers, to wall squats. 4 — Introduction

We saw many changes this year at WC. The most noticeable were changes in clothing and hair styles. Almost everything imaginable was seen. Everything from mini-skirts to sweat suits, from leg warmers to ballet shoes. Last year’s preppie alligators were replaced by this year's foxes and hushpuppies. The names for the new styles were new wave and punk. Some other clothes that were seen were prairie skirts, ruffled blouses, baggy pants, pedal pushers or knickers, oxford shirts, monogrammed sweaters, and many different styles of shoes. Hair styles changed quite a bit too. It seemed as if the hair on top got shorter and the backs got longer, not only in the girls' styles, but also in the boys’. The language, as usual, changes from year to year. This year’s expressions changed from “neat, cool, fox, and hey, man to “totally awesome, tubular, wow, and gag me with a spoon. Frienship pins put their best foot forward, so to speak. Little safety pins decorated with beads of many colors started showing up on the shoelaces of everyone's tennis shoes. Friends exchanged these “frienship pins and those with the most pins, probably had the most friends. We Watched Fads Come And Go BELOW: Vanessa Wilson is shown wearing one of the popular monogrammed sweaters. LOWER RIGHT: Betsy Harrell and Amy Frasier model the NEW WAVE fashionalbe mini-skirts. Face painting was also the in thing to do this year. Flowers and stars gave a decorative flair to any girl’s cheek. In keeping with the video age, Pac-Man paintings raced across the nose of many. And to show spirit for your school at sports, even a WC or Falcon or 1 might appear on the face. Juice in milk cartons served before school became popular this year. For attention some people go to extremes. A few of our fellow students created their own small band of crutch groupies. Elaborately signed casts were real status symbols. But it took a serious injury to achieve membership in this elite group. Try our leg warmers, they fit your legs 6 — Introduction
