Falcons Freaky Friday The lively week of homecoming began Wednesday with students dressing up as their favorite movie star. Thursday students dressed in gold and white representing their school colors. Keeping their spirits high on Friday the 13th students dressed very mysteriously because Friday the 13th was Black Friday. Breaking the tradition because of the rain, students instead began fun and games the afternoon of the game. Some of the new games the students participated in were the body pass, the sack race, the balloon toss, the shoe grab, the tug of war, and the traditional bonfire. Throughout this week students had been competing for the spirit stick through competition in fun and games and dress. The tradition of the parade before the game was continued. During half time the Winchester Community Show Band performed their State Championship Show. Next was the moment that had been awaited, the crowning of Lisa Norris 1978-79 Homecoming Queen. The queen's court included Vivian Williams, junior; Kim Giver, sophomore; and Rhonda Cline, freshman. The bad luck of Friday the 13th finally proved unfortunate to the Falcons as they lost 35-14 against Jay County Patriots. Nonetheless the Falcon Fans supported their team and the Homecoming festivities were still enjoyed by all present.
