A Year Of Varying Degrees Winter hit us hard this year with a total of 19 days missed. We were hit by the energy crises which affected everyone. We had to shut off many room lights and there were a few exceptions. The creative cooking class could only use gas stoves and one week prepared cold meals. At lunch we ate off paper plates and were served cold lunches. The heat was turned back and many students wore sweaters. 5

This was a year of extreme effort because . . . At least some put forth an effort to get to school . . . The dogs even came on the snow days . . . Mr. Anderson shows extreme coaching effort at semi-state with Clint Hawley . . . Steve Engle and Steve Barga try to win cross-country meet . . . Engle was named MVP of the 77-78 year . . . Senior boys struggle to win tug of war at fun and games night . . . They have won this competition for the last two years . . . The Sophomore girls try just as hard to win tug of war title of their own . . . They succeeded in doing this against the Seniors. This Was A Year Of Extreme Effort

Rags To Riches FFA sponsors farmers day, which students dressed as farmers and the best dressed farmer received a free lunch with an extra helping. . . Pictured here is Bret Anderson which participated in this contest with many other students dressed in hats, overalls, flannel shirts, and hip boots. . . Jackie Smoot soon to be crowned Homecoming queen raggedly dressed to participate at fun and games night. . . This is another side of Jackie all smiles when Mr. Valanding-ham crowned her Homecoming queen of the 77-78 year. . . Connie Schopmeyer and Donna Neudecker represented Winchester at Mardi Gras, with Connie being crowned Miss Randolph and Donna winning the talent and second runner up. . . Connie will go on to Michigan City this summer to represent Randolph County. . . b
