a tribute to seniors Remember when it started? With a tear in the eye but trying to be brave. As yon said good-bye to mommy and daddy and started vour long journey ahead? Remember the indoor monkey-bars, all the games, and putting your picture on a slme box, in which you kept your l est drawing? The naps, the milk and cookie snacks; All things of the past. First grade came along and suddenly you were no longer the babies. You were finally someone OLDER in school. There were “Tom and Susan,” and who could forget “Flip the faithful dog in our advanced readers. The years went by and suddenly you were past third grade and on your way to fourth. What happened to those years? Suddenly elementary years were half over. A bit braver. More willing to do things. Remember how you felt as you grew older. A more daring person. Fifth grade brought vour special friend. One you’ll never forget in all the years ahead. Special parties. Special places. Special times. Memories that never die. Where did it all go? Remember the day your sixth grade teacher told you it was half over; And vou should start thinking of your life after school is over with you. Remember your answer to him? “School ending is so far away, I have all the time in the worltl to make the decision.” Do you have all the time? Big time was just around the corner. 7th grade. Jr. High. Older at last! Yes, Older at last . . . Bands, dances, sports! What more was there for you? 8th grade! The oldest in the Jr. High and the excitement of starting High School. And then it came. 9th grade with biology: Cutting up your first frog, and the going to lunch only to be followed by Phys. Ed. So many new things happened to you! Your first Homecoming, and better, a Sectional victory and a trip to the Regional. The Sophomore year brought your chance to give the Freshman what you got before. Maybe your first prom. Another year. Another Homecoming. Another Sectional, but no trip to the Regional. THINGS STARTED TO CHANGE FOR YOU. You saw things in a more grown up manner. Met your someone special. Had dates. The Prom your Junior year. Your Prom; no. Our Prom. Seniors. That’s almost the end. Homecoming, the Sectional, with another trip to the Regional. The Prom given to honor us. Graduation announcements. A busy year; one never to forget. Graduation. The End ... Or is it? No, it is a new beginning in to bigger and better things in life. New goals to set and accomplishments to reach. Remember, trying to be brave, but with a tear in your eye, leaving the building for the last time; Saying good-bye to old friends you may never see again or who may remain friends for life. A year never to be forgotten. Memories always to remember. A past part of life with a bigger future ahead. —Janeil Martin, Senior ’74
