ii X J October 5, 2001 Dear Members of the Class of 2002, My message to you is very different from messages to past classes. You are part of a drastically changed America. The events of September 11, 2001 have changed our society, probably forever. When you look back at this yearbook 10 or 20 years from now, you will realize what I mean. You have been brought up and educated in the greatest civilization in history. We stand for and respect diversity, human rights, democracy and the right of every citizen to speak his piece, make his mark and reach his potential. Dwight Eisenhower told us that America is great because America is good - and if America ever ceases to be good - America will cease to be great . You are very fortunate to have done your pre-college education here! Be thankful to your parents and your teachers. Stay in touch with your friends. They will be your friends for life. We know that you are well prepared for the college experience, academically and spiritually. Let us know how you are doing. You know that we will always be here for you.
