he Win hendon School Ash Street, Winchendon, Massachusetts 01475 Telephone: 508-297-1223 Fax: 508-297-0911 j.William LaBelle Headmaster September 27, 1994 Dear Members of the Class of 1995, On behalf of the faculty, Mrs. LaBelIe and I offer you congratulations! You have achieved well and you are prepared for the next step in your formal education. We trust that you have gainednot only academic acumen, but also some sense of independent thinking and character. Character is the stuff of leadership. By character I mean resolution, self- reliance, and the strength to see the task through, whatever the obstacles, if it is worthy. I am going to do this simply because it is right, and while I value your opinion and judgment, I will ultimately do what I think is right to do! And, incidentally, after I have done it, I shall be at ease and unintimidated by your criticism. This is difficult to do and beyond the reach of many. However, it is my hope that you will see peer pressure for the filmy vapor it is and by doing so place yourself in a position to learn how to lead. We wish you well. Remember that we are always here for you. Let us know how you are doing and please visit whenever you can. Sincerely, f I J. William LaBeIle HEADMASTEFI I

f f 'fi KI if NG DUTBALL DEDICATIQN Despite the fact that this is only his second year here at The Winchendon School, Mr. Richards has made a great impression on us all. Perhaps he taught your senior English class, was your varsity wrestling coach, or your E .S .L. teacher last year. Maybe he was the one who told you to clean up your room, or faked punches at you after school. He is a teacher who handles his authority well, because he hasn't forgotten what it's like to be a kid. He is the kind of teacher that you can joke with, once you get past the fresh from ROTC looks and imposing physique. Members of his wrestling team, or even those who watched a wrestling practice, will understand the kind of effort that he puts in to instill pride and self-confidence in his players. This quality also reaches over into his teaching. He works with you until you know, and are confident in your knowledge. It may not seem like it when you've missed the same vocabu- lary word four times in a row and he's ready to throttle you, but his patience as a teacher is very good. For these, and all the other qualities that are probably too numerous to put on one single page, the Class of 1995 dedicates the Vestigia to Mr. Christopher I. Richards. By- Ilsa Gor on
