Junior Class When we returned in September, after three months of vacation, our enrollment was twenty-one. We had lost two members from last year, Faith Schmalz, who moved to Tomah, and Mooneen Miller. During the year Jean Shie of Kendall joined us and Hazel Downing withdrew, leaving our enrollment at its present twenty-one. The members of our class participating in A Band are: Geneveive Meseberg, Isabelle Dougherty, Donna Stark, Darlain Schindler, Richard Sommerfeldt. In B Band is Hans Palutke. Those singing in the chorus are: Hans Palutke, Darlain Schindler, Jean Shie, Janice Will, Lillian Nauman, and Beatrice Cox. In sports: Jim Green, Jim Creviston, Ray Steinhoff, Carl Arndt, and Everett Reineke took part in both baseball and basketball with Dick Sommerfeldt playing baseball. Donna Stark and Beverly Farmer were both A team cheerleaders. In Forensics, Beverly Farmer and Darlain Schindler represented our class. Ray Steinhoff, Everett Reineke, and Jim Creviston participated in F.F.A. During the year we put on a successful class play, You Can’t Take It With You”, under the direction of Mr. Berg with Geneveive Meseberg and Jim Green playing the leads. We set our Prom Date for May 11th but haven’t made any further plans for it. Those were our main events but we had a few others and many good times together. We are all looking forward to next year when we will be the “Mighty” Seniors. Mrs. Schwartz: (while the class was studying foods): What three things contain much starch: Beverly F.: (absent mindedly) two cuffs and a collar. Joe M.: I have a cold in my head. Mr. Chinnock: Well, that’s something Mr. Cady: (Handing out themes) As you get your papers, you may pass out. It was reported that many almost did. Mr. Loff: Name an organ of the body. Beatrice: The teeth. Mr. Loff: What kind of an organ is it? Beatrice: A grind organ. Does my question embarass you? inquired Mr. Berg of the dazed looking student. Not in the least, responded dependable Betty Meacham the question is perfectly clear, it’s the answer that’s bother- ing me.” 23
