I 1 He taught us with the characteristics of sternness, humor and fair play. With him mathematics was not a chore; basket¬ ball and baseball wins were important but the lessons we learned in good sportsmanship were more important. He made us think, for he taught the lessons of life with real understanding and with sympathy. We learned eagerly and well. It was a deep sadness that descended upon us when the news came to us on August 18, 1960, that Mr. Berry had died very suddenly. This abundantly energetic teacher, coach and friend will always be close to our hearts. It is with the deepest respect and gratitude for a wonderful life ' s example that we, the 1961 Hornet ' s Nest staff and students, dedicate this annual to Mr. James W. Berry. 6
