WIL ONIAN DIRECTOR Y ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY PAGE 8 ACTIVITIES PA GE 36 Song of the Open Road Afoot and light-hearted I take to the open road, I-Iealthy, free, the world before me, The long brown path before me leading wherever I choose. Henceforth I ask not good-fortune, I myself am good-fortune, I-Ienceforth I whimper no more, postpone no more, need nothing, Done with indoor complaints, libraries, querulous criticisms, Strong and content I travel the open road. Walt Whitman The open road -- nothing is required but an inquiring mind. Open, indecisive, the poten- tial is unlimited. During our high school years, we have been traveling a straight path. Eventually we all come to forks in the road. Some will meander behind and follow the crowd while others will blaze their way searching for brighter tomorrows and more beautiful horizons So much' unknown opportunity lies before us. Some of us, armed with imagination and drive, may rise to material success, others will leave the world's beaten path to travel alone on open roads. There are roads to wisdom, roads to wealth, roads to happi- ness, roads to just about every aspect of life. Which roads will you choose to travel during your life? Robert Frost might ask you that question in other words: Will you take the road less traveled? UNDER CLA SSMEN PA GE 96 SENI ORS PA GE 1 14 6

PA T H WA YS T 0 CHALLENGES A D CHOICES L . Throughout the year, Wilsonites tread a myriad of pathways leading to further development of body, mind and spirit. The Marching Band in Washington, D . C. epitomizes bodily develop- ment and the desire to compete. The pathway to self-control is depicted as students decide on issues in Student Council elec- tions . Even the seemingly insignificant pathway from the parking lot symbolizes persistence for further mental development through classroom attendance. Finally, the pathway of gradua- tion leading to exciting challenges and choices brings our students to one of the most important crossroads in their lives. Confi- dently, they will select the pathways that hold the most promise for full and rewarding lives.
