SUPEEVISING PEINCIPAES MESSAGE TG THE CLASS OE 1949 WILLIAM C. KUTZ, B.A., M.A. Kutztown State Teachers College, Franklin and Marshall College, Columbia University, The Pennsylvania State Col- lege, Temple University. A century ago Forty-ninersi' were trekking westward, at- tracted chiefly by the lure of gold. Your group of Forty-niners can explore, not only the unknown realms of science, but also the larger realms of undiscovered human resources. Because of the complex social order of living in One World , the laurels of victory await those who achieve success in World Diplomacy, The Christian Ministry, So- cial Welfare, Public Education, Journalism and Personnel Work, as well as discovering new wonders in Science and Medicine. The happiest days of your life were spent in school in surroundings where you were given an opportunity to de- velop a well-rounded, wholesome personality, where you practiced rights and duties of citizenship in a freedom- loving democracy, where you had a friendly guide helping in determining your lifes choice of vocational and avoca- tional interests, where there was a genuine mutual interest in your physical, mental and moral well-being. All these factors were constantly in the minds of your teachers to help you prepare yourself for happy, successful living in tomorrow's world. Sincerely, WILLIAM C. KUTZ PRINCIPAES MESSAGE TO GRADUATES The faculty members of Wilson High School join me in extending heartiest congratulations and sincere best wishes to the class of '49. Happiness and success is usually attained by a willingness to give freely of one's talents and efforts. We shall miss you, Forty-niners, your pleasant smiles and warm person- alities. You have helped to make this, my first year at Wilson, a most enjoyable one. In giving freely of your services and effort, you have left the school a better place than you found it because of your presence here. Yet yours has been the reater ain For he who ives much receives 1 S 8 - 8 1 much. It is our fond hope that success may continue to attend your efforts. And that now, as you join that illus- trious group of your fellow Wilson Alumni, may the hopes and ideals that have been your birthright continue to guide you and lead you forth to happiness. We shall look for you from time to time and expect you to continue your fine support of Wilson High School and all of its activities. With best wishes, B. ANTON HESS B. ANTON HESS, B.S., M.S.Ed.
