The department sought to develop in students a greater competence in all the economic phases of life: an under- standing of the functions of the business world, the job opportunities it provides, the skills it requires, and the personality and character traits its workers need for success. Business Education courses provided an op- portunity for the student to develop technical skills which would open the door to employment in the business field. Acquisition of these skills enabled students to enter the rom ure- part-time and summer employment while attending col- lege.
