AHA European Seminar Abroad take Oswego’s Christi Walter and Wilson’s Bee Gee Williams Wilson High School Group Il stand directly across from the Swiss Matterhorn. The morning of June 13, 1964, 33 Wilson students, 27 girls and 6 boys, departed from the Greyhound bus depot amid cheers and tears from parents and friends. Upon arrival in Vancouver, B.C., a quick transfer from bus to train sent the Wilson students and their advisors, Mr. Gerald Dadey, Miss Maryanne Norman, Mrs. Elizabeth Miller and Mr. Fred Miller, speeding to their for- eign destination. The B.O.A.C. Jetliner from Montreal landed smoothly and swiftly in London's International Airport — Wilson’s seminar was in Europe. In the course of 214 months, the traveling Trojans visited and studied in various lo- cations of England, France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, Belgium, and The Netherlands. Highlights of the seminar’s study included three-week home stays with families or in culture areas, and several é Z eS ne eee . li PM ae 'a happy day as the Wilson vom days on both sides of the Berlin Seminar returned home at the depot. all. 14 Francisco Brieva takes part in the gaiety in the student union. To be a foreign student means many ex- periences during the school year and it is the way which conduces to know other people of different customs and ideals. | came with the purpose to learn a little more about the American high school and the students themselves, what they do and what they like; at Wilson | found all those things and even more. | found a spirit of knowledge among the students which is reflected in different activities: arts, sci- ences, sports, and which gives to Wilson its own characteristic and personality. | have made friends, from whom perhaps | will forget their faces or names, but always will stay in my mind that feeling of friend- ship | found in them. In the assembly, or in the football or basketball game, where ev- erybody participates, | felt that the students are the same human beings all over the world, and who like to live and laugh. Sincerely, Francisco Brieva Rodriguez Asbjorn Fidjestol stands in front of his American home. Exchange Students This year as an exchange student at Wilson has given me many great experiences. Its size and the variety of opportunities offered has always impressed me. The close stu- dent-teacher relationship at Wilson is one of the most important factors making it a great school. | also enjoyed very much meeting the other Wilson students in classes and in after school activities, but the size of Wilson has meant that there is a large number of students | did not get to know personally. My impression of the United States is in line with my impression of Wilson—the opportunities are great, but so is the temptation not to use them. Sincerely, Asbjorn Fidjestol
