DEDICATICDN E. E. Doc Raymond, Grand Master of Music , came to Wilson in l942. We at Wilson are deeply indebted to Doc for his superb work with the Wilson choirs and the snappy Redmen band. Mr. Raymond has been a leader in coordinating many of the activities of Wilson with community life in St. Paul. He was the first conductor ot the massed chor- uses at the Municipal Christmas Choral Pageants. He has brought great tame to Wilson halls with his work on the St, Paul Winter Carnivals during the past few years. His work on our own Wilson High School car- nivals and operettas has been successful year after year. Our hats are oft to Doc - and to him we dedicate our l95l Log.

THE LOG PRESENTED BY WILSON HIGH SCHOOL ST PAUL, MINNESOTA T951

Page 9 text:

Those of us who graduated from high school after the beginning of the century could make plans for the future with the ex- pectation that those plans could be executed in a stable world, a world not markedly dif- ferent from what it had been the preceding fifty years. The changes we did anticipate we thought would be for the better. You who are graduating some forty years later are facing a world which may be com- pletely altered over night. As l am writing this in November, none of us know what the shape of things will be when the Log is issued in the spring. Of only one thing can we be sure. The great truths and virtues of our civilization are still our safest guide. Hold fast to the teach- ings of your church, ot your home, and of your school. lf you do, no matter how uncertain the outlook, that which is of greatest import- ance will be saved for you. RUSSELL S. PETERSON The past four years at Wilson High School have been pleasant and happy ones. There have been opportunities to visit with old friends and make new ones. An exchange of ideas and information has given us a better understanding of the problems to be met in the future. ln addition to receiving the Class of l95l has also given a great deal, given to make St. Paul a better community in which to live and given to make Wilson High a bet- ter school. Only through giving of our talents and resources can we expect to receive and prosper. Graduation from high school is but a be- ginning. There are greater obligations to be met in the future. lf there should be another war some of the Class may be asked to give more than should be asked of any one. Let us hope that this will not be necessary, but the picture is dark. lf a conflict is inevitable we must all do our part to make democracy live. The Class of '5l will, I am sure, do as well here as it has done in its school work. There is one question: Did we do our best . We should be satisfied with ourselves only when we have given everything to the best of our ability. May the future hold much for each member ot the Class of '5l. O. A. NELSON
