When the Log staii chose On to Victory as tl'.e theme for the l945 edition oi The Log. they had in mind, oi course, military victory over our foes, the Germans and the Iapanese. Such a victory is ol vital importance to all of us, whether We are in the armed torces or back here at home, and at Wilson We have Worked hard to bring it about as quickly as possible. Last fall We not only met our goal for the War Fund but went tar beyond it. Throughout the year under the leadership of the Student Council, Wil- sonites have bought War Bonds and Stamps regu- larly and enthusiastically. Our Iunior Red Cross has obtained many blood donors from our com- munity. ln many army camps and hospitals, furni- ture made in our Wood shop is making life more comfortable. The Wilsonian. accompanied by a letter from some faculty member, goes regularly to Wilson men and-Women in the armed services, Wherever they may be. These are only a few oi the things that Wilson organizations and individual Wilson students and teachers are doing to bring military victory nearer. We must, however, look beyond the immediate goal of Victory by force oi arms. After victory, what then? Victory will by no means solve all our trou- bles. I trust that all of us are doing our best to pre- pare ourselves to live the fullest possible lives, to make the most of our abilities and opportunities in the future when America will again be at peace. Only by doing so can We win a real victory for our- selves. Cwfamini fzfui gfkciznc Whcfs Cookin'? Guess What? Something New? No Points? Wilson athletic teams in the past have made contributions that have helped to maintain good school morale and have helped to develop a spirit of fair play. The boys participating learn the value of and the need for a strong, healthy body. Now that our coun- try is engaged in an all out war effort, members of the Wilson athletic teams are conscious of a compelling double motive to do their best in all contests as representatives of Wilson, and to get in the best possible physical condition before re- porting to Uncle Sam, goofgaff l.
