X f em 9 gk fgly In the fall of 1938 the Shootlng Stars began theu' long journey with the startlng poxnt at the Longfellow Grade School Under the guldance of Miss Ida Austln the elghteen stars shot for llrahrk Betty Brxchacek Kenneth Sexfers Barham Jean Carter Donald Hrabnk Mary Ann Pfelf fer Franklln Goad Leonard Herher Rlchard Pekared Gen Bowers Kelth Kasper Elzane Mlller Evelyn McReynolds Kenneth ,lelllson Donald Spears Yvonne Shaffer James Vlcek and ln the sprung Mlldred Grogg added another point to the star r 0 0 E ll at 0' 6, ward into the wild blue. The eighteen points of this big star were: Carole Sue Swartz, Kenneth 4114111433 viii? After having shot past the first mile of their journey seventeen of these points entered the second grade in September 1939. The two points of the star that were no longer with us were Geri Bowers and Kenneth Hrabik. During this time the points were under the control of Miss Myrtle Geise. On the third lap Miss Piland steered the nineteen points from the fall of 1940 to the spring of 1941. Two points fell from the star but four were added. The fallen points were Mary Ann Pfeiffer and Barbara jean Carter. The points gained were Roy Spears, Bill Cameron, Elaine Finlcbeiner, and Mary Lee Healey. As the points kept pace with the march of time they flew into the fourth grade in 1941. They gained an additional point who was Mary Ann Pfeiffer but lost one who was Donald Spears. During this time Miss Josephine Tobias helped pilot the star forward into space. In the fall of 1942 the star lost four of its points who were Mary Ann Pfeiffer, Bill Cameron, Betty Brichacek, and Yvonne Shaffer. Those points gained were Loren Borrel, Cloyd Burkhead and Donald john Kejr. During this year the points were under the leadership of Miss Winifred Ellis. Mr. Herbert Schulz led the points through their last year at the Longfellow Grade School. Points that were lost were Carole Sue Swartz and Kenneth Seifers and in the spring of 1944 we lost Mildred Grogg. junior Hrabik, Duane Bunker, Lawrence Feld- housen and Mary Ann Pfeiffer were added. ' This year the points chartered their star to the high school where they attended the seventh grade. Mr. Clifford McCoy was the teacher. One point who was Jerry Stephens was added and two who were lost were Donald and junior lirabik. For the last year of their elementary education Miss Keyser directed the points. Martyn Vanek, Keith Spears, Donald Bunker, and Elias Manzo were new points added to t e star. The first year of high school was begun in 1946. The nine new points were: ,loan Brokes, lda Mae Branda, Betty Lou Wanek, Nadine Stroll, JoAnn Peterlca, Cordon Zahradnik, Kay Vanek, Loyal Claussen, and Kenton Doran. Elaine Finkbeiner, Elias Manzo, Donald Bunker, and Keith Spears were points that left the star. Mr. Eric Frie- sen was the sponsor of the star for this year. As the star progressed to the sophomore year two points were lost. Roy Spears and Duane Bunker. ln the spring of 1948 Lawrence Feldhousen left the star. Sponsoring the star this year was Mr. Eric Friesen. No points were added or lost during the junior year. One new sponsor, Miss Keyser, was added to help Mr. Eric Friesen guide the star. This year the juniors gave the annual junior-Senior Banquet with the theme An Old Fashioned Carden . Every year for the eleven years the class had a picnic and a party. During the junior year the points presented a play Crazy But Cute . Un the last leg of the journey the star lost two points who were jerry Ste hens and Mary Lee Healey. The seniors had a play Brother Goose , and also published the school annual and paper. The stars sponsored a carnival in December o 1949.
