Bo Overton, assistant basketball coach at OU, was the guest speaker. The trophy for best all around girl athlete went to Penny Battles. Kevin Newton was named best all around boy athlete for 1983-84. Head football coach Kerry Roberts presented the football trophies to four players. They were Brad Ferguson, outstanding offensive running back; Kevin Newton, outstanding offensive lineman; Brad Gaither, outstanding defensive player; and John Melson, sportsmanship. Coach Roberts presented a weight lifting award to Dewayne Adams. Boys basketball awards were presented by basketball coach Eddie Guess. The trophy for best offensive player went to Monte Newton. Eddy Hill was named best hustler, Chris Battles received the trophy for best defensive player, and Robert Lynch was awarded a trophy for most improved. Girls Coach Teresa Johnston presented the most improved award in girls basketball to Jackie Tucker. The best defensive player trophy went to Robin Hodges. Best offensive girls basketball player was Lisa McCurtain. Lisa has received that award for two years in a row. The Lady Eagle Hustler Award has two recipients this year, Tammy Meloy and Tresa Rateliff. Coach Johnston also presented special awards to Penny Battles, Robin Hodges and Lisa McCurtain for making all conference. Medallions were given to all senior athletes. The girls were Gail Hodges, Lisa McCurtain, Robin Hodges, Tammy Meloy and Kristy Roberts. The boys receiving medallions were Brad Ferguson, Brad Gaither, Terry May, Kelly Robnett, Eddy Hill, Phillip Robinson, John Melson, Kevin Newton, Keith Barnes, Justin Marshall, Kent Thompson, Jack Howard and Chris Battles. The annual FHA Ma, Pa, Me Banquet was held on April 27, 1984. The banquet is held each year as a way of thanking parents for their support. At the banquet outstanding Home Ec I, Home Ec II, Home Ec III, Home Ec IV, Compliments of CHARLOTTE’S WEB Healdton, Okla. no Family Living, and FHA members were given certificates for their achievements. Awards were also presented for superior work in the areas of housing, clothing, and foods nutrition. The FHA mothers were given plaques of appreciation and the outstanding senior of 1983-84, Lesa McCauley, received a plaque. The 1983-84 officers announced the new officers for 1984-85 and the 1984-85 Beau. The 1983-84 Beau, Cameron Herrin, received a plaque. The meal was excellent and the FFA members did a great job of serving. The banquet was the closing of another eventful year for FHA. The 1983-84 band banquet was held on May 8, 1984. The highlight of the banquet was when Mr. Larry Johnson, band director, was presented a Schlike trumpet by his high school band students. Money for the silver Schlike trumpet was raised by Wilson High band students and their parents during this school year. Other awards given at the banquet included 'Booster of the Year Award” which was presented to Jo Eva Martin, and a special appreciation award which was given to Mrs. Cleo Muller for her many years of service and dedication to the band. Outstanding bandsmen awards were presented to a boy and girl from each grade. Those receiving the awards were Valerie Martin and Kelly Gaston, seniors; Kirby Stevens, junior; Jackie Tucker and Matt Hefner, sophomores; and Stephanie Newton and Scott Weatherford, freshman. Compliments of WALL'S 219 W. Main, Ardmore Outstanding middle school band awards went to Denise Brinlee and Shawn Price, eighth grade; and Allison DeLano and Keith Farrell, seventh grade.
