1982 Eagle Wilson High School Wilson, Oklahoma Dedication . . . There has been for the past eight years a teacher who, in the minds of many students, would only leave good memories. Mrs. Ann Muncy completed high school in Fort Worth, Texas and then furthered her education at Texas Wesleyan College and did her graduate work at Southern Methodist University and East Central University. Mrs. Muncy came to Wilson to teach in 1975 after teaching in Ardmore for four years and in Texas for four years. Mrs. Muncy does more than her share of work for the school newspaper and the junior class but never complains. Her duties as sponsor of The Eagles Voice include making assignments, typing articles and running off the paper. Her duties as the junior sponsor include working in the concession stand and planning and making sure the prom goes well. All this plus the responsibility of being a teacher. When Mrs. Muncy isn't busy doing something concerning school activities, she likes to read and to go shopping for antiques. Mrs. Muncy's favorite class to teach is Government, and the thing she enjoys most about teaching is the students, because she enjoys giving them something they can tell their children about. For her commitment to the students of Wilson High School we, the annual staff, dedicate this, the 1981 - 82 Eagle to Mrs. Ann Muncy. Due to the new assertive discipline program, (whereby students are rewarded for good behavior and punished for bad) they had a quieter classroom for work and study. A number of students entered enthusiastically into their first year in 4-H Club, participating in such activities as Share the Fun, timely speeches, demonstrations, and the Fat Stock Show. Several students also excelled in gymnastics and the P.E. program. They enjoyed the school year and felt that they had many good memories, good friends, and better study habits to go on with into the next year. Future Eagles Our class has had a busy year. We have been involved in many activities as well as our academic learning. Several of our students have been involved in the special P.E. program that has been performed for different schools in our area. We have also had some of our students involved in a special music program. We all had fun getting ready for open house this year. The children enjoyed it as much as the parents. I feel like we have all learned a lot this year and I have enjoyed teaching each child. I think they are an exceptional class. Not only did the children make new friends but they're learning how to write a good letter as well as learning about another area of the United States. For Valentine's Day the children made and sent valentines to their pen pals. They get very excited about receiving more letters from these new friends. In the swing of things. We were invitied to the Ardmore Veteran's Hospital in October. We wore Hallowean costumes and sang Halloween songs to help them celebrate. In November we studies about the Indians and made an Indian village. We had this on display at Open House. In December both second grades put on a play. The Santa Claus Express, we had our play Dec. 17 at 7:00 p.m. for all the parents and again the next day for the Elementary Building. We were very proud of our performances. We studied our S.R.A. reading aids; we studied how to write in cursive writing; we are learning how to write a letter, address an envelope ana how to mail them. This year has been full of new experiences and we are looking forward to many more. Amber Gray Dale Gunter Michelle Hodges Will Johnson Shelly Key Bridgit King Robin Rich Abigail Richardson Cory Rountree John Smith Kelly Thomason Troy Thompson Melissa VanBuskirk Rozanne Whatley ShaRhonda Williams My first graders have accomplished many tasks this year. The most important being; learning to read. Writing and math were also a challenge, but maybe not as big a challenge as learning to stay awake all day. The children agreed their favorite project this year was making things for open house. Some of these projects included an Indian booklet, making an Indian Village with teepees (made of burlap and sticks with original paintings.) They assembled stories they started writing at the beginning of the year. And my favorite was the recipe books written by the children. They worked very hard during this time, as they have all year. This is a very important year for children and I feel this year was very successful. Thanks to all the parents who were so helpful and showed so much interest in the success of their children. The next lesson in importance is love and respect for the United States of America, the precious land where we live. We have learned a lot about P.E., music, reading, art, phonics, math, writing, and taking directions. Another very important thing we are learning now, and working very hard at, is to always do our very best in everything we do. If we sing we do our best. If we are listening to a story read, we do our best to remember as much about the story as we can. We are almost ready for the first grade, and because we have learned to work very hard, we think we are ready to do nice work in the first grade. FFA Projects Met Head-On Busy, busy, busy, . .. the sausage sale, the slave sale, the fair, the local livestock show, and the county livestock show all combined to keep FFA'ers on their toes all the school year. Even though all events were successes, the biggest success of all proved to be the slave sale. They raised $4100 on the slave sale alone. The sausage sale proved once again to be a big money raiser, too. Some of this year's officers and members involved themselves in judging contests and the most exciting event of the year for many The Annual Parent-student Banquet- all members received their degrees and special awards on that festive occasion. In April, along with the banquet, the State FFA Convention was held in Oklahoma City. Four delegates were selected to go this year. They received an exceptional educational experience there. One of the most enjoyable events afforded to FFA'ers occurs in the sum-mer-the campout. Mr. Morris's culinary skill over the campfire on this occasion is always appreciated. Even though much effort is called forth, it is an effort that's fun. 1st row: Andy Nipp, Jacky Arnold, Johnny Sullivan, Rod Elliot, Bill Overby, Raeanne Jones, Donna Powell, Lany Buck, Bill Nipp. Lawuana Newman, Jo Ann Massengill. 2nd row: Jimmy Nipp, Monte Newton, Robert Lynch, Keith Barnes, Terry Hix, Adam Hefner, Dalton Cain, Justin Marshall, Phillip Robinson, Jacky Grissom, Sandy Burris. 3rd row: Mr. Paul Morris, Scott Marutzsky, Steven Dixon, Kenneth Williams, Eddy Hill, Randy Parks, Terry Hacker, Lindle Flatt, Kevin Newton, Mr. Gerald Jones. 4th row: Nelson Dixon, Jeff Whatley, Chris White, Dierk Smith, Russell Beck, Marlin Isaacs, Freddie Williams, Jerry Ashley, Greg Jones, Neil Robnett. 5th row: Jerry Hix, Terry Way, Phillip Thompson, Joe Dethloff, John Sanders, Larry Slone, Doug Hickman, Steve Martin, Brad Ferguson, 6th row: Kelly Robnett, Durwin Epley, Kyle Marsh, William Hembree, David Chandler, Cecil O'Oaniel. 71 Donna Powell won Reserve Grand Champion at the Wilson Livestack Show. tb i ► ft First row: Anita Slawson, Lori Lany, Darla Howard, Sherry Price, Lori Wigington, Mary Milliken, Janice Meloy, Pam Jackson, Dee Dee Caldwell, Gianna Fowler Goode, Jackie Gray, Dala Barbour Williams, Crystal Gentry, Raeanne Buck Jones, Brenda Hodges. During football season they put together an entertaining half-time each week. For the third year, the band marched in the Ardmore Christmas parade. Shortly after this members of the band competed with students from other schools for places in the honor band. The Wilson Band had fifteen participants to earn places in the Honor Band. These students performed in a concert with the other Honor Band players. Later on the band performed in three contest. At two of these contest the band received superior ratings. At District Contest, the third and most important one, the band earned an excellent rating. Later in the school year the bands were combined to form a fifty piece band. Again the work began as they continued to learn more about their instruments and as they prepared a concert for their parents. They are now looking forward to a new year and a better band. Nor all our piety nor wit shall lure it back to cancel half a line. Nor all our tears wash out a word of it. The 1981-82 school year has passed. And with this quote from the Persian poet, Omar Khayyam, The Eagle's Voice staff closes out another year of the year paper. We hope our efforts have brought joy to our readers, and a minimum of grief, if any. It has been our purpose to inform, entertain, encourage and sometimes to persuade our readers. We hope we have occasionally succeeded. Our staff of 30 journalism students has published 12 editions of The Eagle's Voice this school year. We hope the readers have enjoyed reading it as much as we have enjoyed writing and printing it.
