Text from Pages 1 - 104 of the 1965 volume:

FOREWORD When you think of a high school, what do you see? This is the picture that comes to me; A high school is people - teenagers and all. It’s assemblies and classes and a rush in the hall. It’s panic at grade cards; it’s black and gold; It’s thrills and excitement that never grow old. Suspense fills the hallways, and rivalry’s keen. All yearn for a scholarship; who will be Queen? A high school means projects and clubs with their fun, and everyone working till all tasks are done; Tense moments at ball games - Will we win or not? That ‘‘Fightin’ Eagle” spirit means more than we thought! What is a high school? What is its story? We’ve told it here in all its glory! DEDICATION The school year will soon close and each of us will go our separate ways. But there will be some places, some things, and some people we will not forget. This is so with the coaching staff. Coach Nelson, Coach Williamson, and Coach Hall have led us down the road to victory, in all our sports, many times this year. They have spent hours working with us. They have understood our problems. Because of their help and guidance, we have broadened our knowledge and our chances for success. Therefore, we, the annual staff, would like to dedicate the 1965 Eagle’s Voice to the coaching staff of Wilson High School. SEATED LEFT TO RIGHT: E. L. We love them all, yes every one In everything serious and also fun. They drag their feet and act half alive Then turn on a record and watch them jive. They go half dressed, and wear their hair flat top They come to a chair and down they flop. They have love and respect for each other, Some of them are just like brothers. Grown-ups, sometimes could learn a lot Just watching these boys and what they've got. They don’t talk about everyone in town And step on them when they are already down. Instead they try to be fair to all. And give each a chance to carry the ball. Carry the ball! Well yes, we guess They really got Healdton in a heck of a mess You all thought Bulldogs were pretty mean Did you ever see an Eagle Football Machine There's eleven parts and they all pull together They zoomed through the Bulldogs, and lost not a feather. The crowd was yelling and kissing and hugging Nearly everyone there got a good hugging But gee! Who wouldn’t be happy and dance When Healdton thought we had no chance All our foes came to Wilson without a fear But these snaps show that they have to get in High gear. If they hope to win a game over here. JR.
