FOREWORD The annual staff of 1963-64 takes great pleasure in presenting to you “The Eagle’s Voice.” We would like to thank the faculty, student body, and townspeople for their co-operation. We would also like to thank Mrs. Todd, our sponsor, who has helped to make this annual possible. We hope that as you turn through the pages of this annual, that love and remembrances of the school days at Wilson Public School will be instilled in your hearts. DEDICATION We, the members of the 1963-64 annual staff would like to dedicate this year’s Eagle’s Voice to Miss Thompson, Whenever anyone has a problem, you can always count on Miss Thompson to take the time to help. If there is a meal to serve for any reason, whether it has to do with school activities or some club in the community, you can be sure that Miss Thompson will be willing to help in every way possible. We are proud to dedicate our annual to such a wonderful and deserving person as Miss Thompson. MISS JOYCE THOMPSON Miss Thompson is the sponsor of the Wilson F.H.A. chapter. She also teaches several Home Economics classes. Miss Thompson poses in the above picture with one of her very close friends: Miss Chris Staples. The impact of these events on your future will depend largely on you, the youth of today - the adults of tomorrow. One of the world’s most precious heritages, the right to secret ballot, will soon be yours. A wise use of this right will protect the freedoms given you by our nation’s Pioneers. Many a powerful nation has fallen as a result of moral decay within the nation. A true belief in the Creator and a Christian way of life must be ours if we are to retain our standing in the free world. To the graduating class, I wish each of you every success in your future endeavors and in the assumption of the responsibilities of democratic citizenship. SENIOR HIGH PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE To the faculty and students of Wilson High School, I would like to express my sincere thanks to each of you for helping to make this a great year for our school. Each member of the faculty and student body has worked very hard this year, in order to make this school the type of school that we are all proud of. To the seniors that are leaving, I would like to wish for each of you a very happy and prosperous life, and to the ones that will be returning, we are looking forward to another great year together. Vernon McCuistion ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Each time that we enroll one hundred children in our first grade, we look at them and wonder; Will it be you? For we know that over this nation there will be thirty children from each one hundred enrolled that will never don the cap and gown. They are the dropouts. From these thirty children will come most of our delinquents. From these thirty children, on the most part, will be the ones for which we will build our institutions for correction. Yet, we know that there is an average of more than twenty per cent of the children enrolled who do not have the ability to master grammar, mathematics, and the sciences. However, they must sit in a classroom six hours a day, one hundred and eighty days each year comprehending very little of what is being taught. What choice do we expect them to make? How long will it be before the people of this nation will demand and be willing to pay for a course of study that will meet the needs of these youngsters and offer them what is necessary for them to become useful and prosperous citizens? HOMECOMING Three fortunate Wilson High School beauties and their escorts wait for that moment when the Homecoming Queen is announced. Pictured from left to right are Bobby Holloway, Judy Sullivan, Peggy Snow, Ronald Gunter, Dixie Patrick, and Danny Steele. The moment has arrived! Dixie Patrick, junior, is elevated to the royal position of reigning queen of the 1963 Homecoming festivities. Decked out in a gold cape and crowned with a rhinestone tiara, Miss Patrick prepares for a stately (kiss) from Captain Steele. Compliments of RED DOOR FOOD MARKET Everything good To Eat ACTIVITIES Now really, Danny, castles in Spain will have to wait. We still have a rough game with those Fox Foxes. For this occasion of high excitement and gay spirits, Dixie and Danny pose for the traditional Homecoming picture. These three monkeys represent the ancient Oriental custom of speak no evil, hear no evil, and see no evil. Seriously, though, the students of Wilson High School should be proud of the 1963 version of Homecoming royalty. ViU'l I, , V
