rff -RHHH -LHKHJ -HiiHH lERHl TABLE OF ADMINISTRATION CLASSES ORGANIZATIONS SPORTS SPOTLIGHT CAMPUS FOREWORD As the 1962-63 school year comes to a close, we. the annual staff, are proud to present this year's annual. In this edition we have put our ideas into pictures and our feelings into words, in order to bring you a better annual. Our sincere thanks go to those who helped us bring forth this—the 1962-63 edition of The Eagles's Voice. and in years to come may it be remembered in Wilson High with happiness. DEDICATION During this high school year there have been many times when we have needed help and guidance. It was during these times that we found we could always depend on Mr. Richardson. Whenever we needed advice he could always be counted on to give us wise counsel and the answers to our questions. He has taught us good citizenship, respect, and honor in addition to helping us gain unity in our classes. To you, Mr. Jack L. Richardson, we, the Annual Staff, proudly dedicate the '63 EaglesVoice, in returnfor the priceless gifts of knowledge and inspiration you have bestowed upon us. We deeply express our gratitude for the guidance and support you have so unselfishly given us. In the life of a Principal There is always a few minutes of seriousness, as well as those filled with fun. MASONIC AWARDS GARY PARRISH Student of Today CAROL RICHARDSON Student of Today IN MEMORY On Thursday, September 6, 1962, the Wilson Public School was saddened by the news of the sudden death of Mr. N. E. Ticer, a loyal citizen of our community and school. Mr. Ticer had served faithfully for many years the Wilson school system as attorney for the Wilson Public Schools. He gave cheerfully of his time, experience, and knowledge for the betterment of the Wilson schools. STANDING, LEFT TO RIGHT: Lonnie-Rooney, Member; H. W. Wilson, President. SEATED. LEFT TO RIGHT: Elmo Straughn, Vice-President; Maurice Epley, Member; Joe McKinnis, Superintendent; J. L. Pfeffer, Clerk. SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE Your school has made many advancements since you entered high school. You have shown growth and appreciation for the opportunities which your school has made possible for you when you advance in knowledge, truth and citizenship. Your school is a symbol of qualities so needed in our American way of life. Let us warn you now that you stand in grave danger of losing your birth-right to the blessings and opportunities which you enjoy. Beware of communistic beliefs which would rob the individual's right to think, to dream, to plan, to achieve or to claim your school. May you continue to SENIOR HIGH PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE To the Members of the 1963 Graduating Class: It gives me great pleasure to extend my sincere congratulations to you upon successfully completing this important phase of your formal education. From nowon you will be considered young adults rather than school children. This transition from school to adult life offers many advantages, but these advantages go hand in hand with new duties and responsibilities as adult citizens. To be an adult citizen today in our fast moving society, with its ever changing means of transportation and communication, we must always be alert and ready to meet new challenges. This for many of ypu will mean constant re-evaluation and retraining within the vocation of your choice. Your duty as an American citizen becomes very important in your relationship to the various nationalities of the world. Your tolerance, understanding, and appreciation of individual right must never be forgotten. As tomorrow's leaders. I wish you every success in your chosen vocation and in your personal life. Jack L. Richardson ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE The aim of education may be the attainment of an excellent academic record. However, we might have failed if a student has not developed the ability to speak freely and has not attained a wholesome attitude toward other people. We might have failed if he does not have an appreciation for the finer things of life, such as, art, literature and music, and have an inspired, illumined and heightened interest in gaining further knowledge. We might have failed if we have not developed his ability to live happily and peacefully in a world with other people. 4JL J. Wesley Hull, Principal South Ward Elementary School ANNUAL STAFF AT WORK Deciding which picture to use takes a lot of thought. Is the assistant editor really telling the editor how to do her work? Laying out the pictures is hard but can be a lot of fun. When it comes to typing, these gals are tops, especially when Jackie aids them. Oh! What a mess! But it is all in the making of an annual. Did you say Hard at Work?” Really this is a big part of putting an annual together. Compliments of MR. AND MRS. J. C. NICHOLS All the queens, kings, sweethearts and other royalty are pictured here. Luck and stronger lines were against the Little Eagles. They were unable to score. The team gained valuable experience. Team captains were Jerry Brown and Joe Bates.
