Superintendent This year's annual (1958-59) has a very special meaning for me. Many of the boys and girls of our Senior class started their first year of formal education in the fall of 1947, the year I came to Wilson as Superintendent of Schools. This class of 59 will always have a very warm spot in my heart, since I have seen them through their twelve years of school work, have watched them in their joys and their sorrows, and have tried to help wherever and whenever possible. It has been a very rewarding twelve years for me. In these twelve years our country has seen expanded educational opportunities for many more boys and girls. Young people are attending school much more regularly, taking more difficult courses, and making more definite plans for attending college. In our world of today, for our youth who are becoming adults, there are no future plans or blue prints without a well-rounded education. The new National Defense Education Act of 1958 will provide many millions of dollars to give all deserving boys and girls a good education at the high school and college level. But our students must prepare for and seek these opportunities. It is my hope that all people everywhere in our land will work together to provide higher standards of learning for our future citizens. Battles may be won or lost in the classroom just as they are won or lost on the battlefield, and casualties in education may be disastrous to our nation and our way of life. My thanks and appreciation to you the annual staff, sponsors, and students, for your extra time and effort in service to help us to achieve the best possible for our youth of today. Sincerely,
”

High School Principal Dear YEARBOOK STAFF: Today more than at any other time in history that of education is playing the role of success. The basic factors for education do not consist of everything that one would gather from books. The boys and girls of today will be the men and women of tomorrow. It has been stated that a word to the wise is sufficient, and if you are not wise then you are otherwise. The Allwise, which is God, knowing man and his feeble attempts to gain knowledge and power through his deliberation has sanctioned that of education in saying, Study to show thyself approved. Sincerely yours.
