A FOREWORD The 1957 yearbook staff takes great pleasure in presenting to you this year's edition of The Eagle's Voice. We wish to thank the faculty, student-body, and patrons for their kind co-operation and for their work in making this edition of the yearbook possible. We would especially like to thank Mrs. Pass and Mrs. Todd, our sponsors. We hope as you turn the pages of this yearbook in the future it will bring back unforgettable moments and cherished friends. DEDICATION A successful school depends upon many things. But the most important factor is the student body. We believe that the Wilson High School has one of the finest student bodies in the United States. Therefore, we, the annual staff, wish to dedicate to you, the student body, the 1957-58 Eagle's Voice. C. E. SHOEMAKER Vice-President J. T. DOUGHTY Member BOARD OF EDUCATION J. L. PFEFFER President T. E. EMERSON Clerk B. J. HESTER Member N. E. TICER Attorney . H. ROBINSON Treasurer WOODROW HULME Auditor SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE Dear Yearbook Staff, It is again time to say Thanks to the annual staff and its sponsors for the 1958 edition of The Eagle's Voice. It seems such a short time since we were waiting for last year's annual. I sometimes wonder what we do with our time! Do you know that we Americans have more leisure time than any people have ever had before in the history of the world? A challenge to us all! The complications and strains of modern life cause tensions. Tensions cause depressions, illnesses, or just plain grouchiness. If we are to learn to live the full life that was and is intended for us to live, we must learn to evaluate time. In our future we will have more and more leisure time, and this time will not be a luxury but a necessity in our lives. As we make plans for our jobs, our homes, and our life's responsibilities, we must also plan for proper use of our free time. Leisure time gives us opportunities for service to our families and to others; a time for meditations, devotions, and enjoyment of deeper spiritual values. Proper use of leisure time is assurance for a fuller life. I am sure that those who have edited this Eagle's Voice hope that you will find leisure time for the memories that are contained therein. Sincerely yours, HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE To My Student Friends, Greater opportunity for skill and wisdom and a greater need for sincere devotion to our Country and to our fellow-man has never faced the youth of America as it does today. You have little respect for the boy or girl who isn’t wiser today than yesterday. To live life to the fullest one does not have to be a technical expert, but must be well grounded in the art of Christian living, must have respect for the moral and spiritual values of life, and must strive to attain the highest scholastic standing in keeping with his abilities. My thanks to the sponsors and all who have made this yearbook possible, and for a job well done. ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL To the Yearbook Staff: We at South Ward think that education must advance upward with our demanding and changing world. We are trying to teach all aspects of education that is required in reaching all demands that our public and private lives anticipate. We hope to help put more satellites in the orbit by our teaching efforts in one respect or another, by giving a well rounded educational program to our youth. We would like to thank the yearbook staff for their time and effort involved to give us a yearbook to help us remember the days we spent in the Wilson Schools. MRS. WILLARD BAYS Sixth Grade S. C.
