un OtlemMim The entire school and community were shocked and saddened on the morning of October 5, 1954, when the announcement was made that Dr. Hilton C. Wood had died suddenly of a heart attack. Dr. Wood came to Wilson from Chickasha in 1951. He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Wilson School Board. He had endeared himself to the pupils of Wilson High School and was esteemed highly by the other members of the school board and all of the school personnel. To his memory we dedicate this page of our annual. —5—

To the patrons of our school who make it possible for us to attend school, who are in a large measure responsible for our modern facilities, and who enable us to publish this annual, to you we gratefully dedicate this edition of the “Eagle’s Voice .

oujiefimtenJent's Qflessaqe TO THE ANNUAL STAFF OF 1954-55: It is always a privilege to write a message in our “Eagle’s Voice . I wonder if we really think what our annual title Eagle’s Voice symbolizes? The eagle is swift, strong, enduring, and beautiful. Even the eagle’s nest on the loftiest crag depicts a lesson in life for us - that of keeping our aims and purposes high. How shall we apply the symbols of the eagle’s swiftness, strength, endurance, and beauty to our everyday lives? Herb Taylor, President of Rotary International, has given the world a 4-Way Test of the things we think, say, or do. This is a test that each of us can apply to each question or problem in life with which we come face to face. First, we should always ask ourselves — Is it the truth? Second, Is it fair to all concerned? Third, Will it build goodwill and better friendships? 'Fourth, Will it be beneficial to all concerned? If all peoples all over the world would apply this 4—Way Test to each question or question or problem in life, every age would be a good age in which to live. Yes, all of us who read this “Eagle’s Voice can make a better home, a better school, and a better community by meeting life honestly and fairly. It is my hope that this “Eagle’s Voice will inspire us to loftier ideals and nobler deeds. And, may we with the swiftness of the eagle, come to know the One who built the world and who holds the destiny of all men in His hands. Sincerely, 6—
