The Annual Staff A To the Annual Staff of 1953-54: Each time that I am asked to write a message for our annual I have a feeling of inadequacy and doubt in trying to set up a challenge for those who read and see our annual. You, the annual staff and sponsors, work so diligently and so sincerely in building such a fine memory book, that my first doubt is that we appreciate the long hours which you work to produce our book of memories The youth in our schools today will inherit our world of tomorrow. Our lives, our jobs, and our country will be given into their hands. The ability and stability with which they manage our affairs will depend upon their training-mentally, physically, and spiritually. I know of no greater investment to meet the needs of those who are destined to lead and to follow than our free public schools. So thank you, our annual staff, for presenting to us in reading and in pictures, a “Book of Memories” to be kept and cherished by us as an everlasting challenge to those who come after us. May all of us as teachers, parents, friends, and students work as willingly and as unselfishly at our job and in our community as you, the annual staff, have worked in producing this beautiful annual for all of us. Sincerely, H. D. Goun We, the people of the Wilson School and community, are aware of the many benefits derived from an education. Our big problem is to get all the students a-ware of the opportunity that is theirs. Today in America “getting an education is considered an inherent right, and those who sell this inheritance by quitting school, find themselves handi capped throughout life. We, the adults and students of this community, should do all that is possible to encourage every boy and girl to finish high school. We at the Southward School hope that we are contributing experiences that will help every boy and girl develop his best abilities. We hope that your experiences will be worthwhile, pleasant, and memorable. A trust that we are placing with each of you is that when you take your place as an active citizen you will maintain and strengthen our democratic principles. Sincerely, Ernest Moore Bwtd 0! Education L. TO THE STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND PATRONS OF THE WILSON PUBLIC SCHOOLS GREETINGS: We, the members of the Board of Education of the Wilson Public Schools, wish to commend the Annual Staff and its sponsor, Mrs. Pass, for the production of another fine annual, “The Eagle’s Voice. Another fruitful year has passed. Progress has been made all along the way. Many of our young men and women will be on their way to college and out into the world. We trust they may be able to look back with pride to the fact that they were products of our good school. May they remember a faculty that was genuinely interested in their progress in every field of endeavor. May we say “thank you” to our faculty for work well done, to our student body for another year of achievement and advancement, and to all of our friends and patrons for your splendid help and cooperation in making this a very successful school year. c L Clerk Member iDt.. r Member H.
