Having Fun Oniy in the foreign language classes could a student experience the different culture of a European coun- try. In these classes, students par- ticipated in activities and exercises that enabled them to understand the language and culture better. For ex- ample, French students set aside a day for making tasty crepes while Spanish students enjoyed making Mexican tortillas. Being in a language class provided a change of pace for students from the basic tireadini, writint, and trithmaticV Although not a modern language, Latin provided the foundation for all other languages. Mrs. Nancy Billman livened up the Latin class by telling stories of ancient Roman culture. The foreign language teachers plan- ned to travel with students to Spain, Italy, and France. This year the Sprench club enjoyed several interesting activities: dining in foreign restaurants, Christmas carol- ing, participating in a soccer game bet- ween French and Spanish students. Sprench club president, Susan Creech expressed her feelings about the club by saying, wThis club gives the members of both language classes the opportunity to share customs of their prospective countries? The trip to Pierre's French restuannt was a highlight for Spanish teacher Mrs. Aragon and the Sprench Club as their enthusiastic faces show. 48 e Foreign Languages Spanish teacher, Mrs. Aragon, explains the conjugation of a verb that Rebecca Smith seems to be having trouble with.
