The tennis team enjoys a meal before the state tournament in Charleston. Not just ads! It was peo- ple, plans, and You e the community. com- munity was support and in- volvement, not only in the school, but in its people and ac- . ' tivities. For instance, the PTO spon- t sored fund-raisers which contributed money to benefit Wilson Hall students. Many parents spent most of their free time driving students to and from piano lessons, tennis matches, basketball practice, and other activities. Local businesses played a major part in financing the yearbook by purchasing ad space in the community sec- tion. For maximum exposure color ads were offered and many businesses profited from this innovation. It was support of people behind the scenes that kept both the school and the community upward bound while giving us a once-in-a-lifetime chance to excel. Community Divider .. 189

Fve got piano today, and I haven't practiced all weekV exclaimed Cissy Matthews. The sound of the 2:00 bell brought to stu- dentts minds thoughts of various extracurricular ac- tivities which broke the monotony of school life. In the afternoons, dance students slipped on their leg-warmers and tap shoes and headed to the studio for hours of stren- uous but invigorating exercise. Various melodies were heard throughout the homes of dedicated music students as they devoted their free time to practice. After-school jobs pro- vided ways to earn money and learn business skills useful in later life. Extracurricular ac- tivities enrich our lives by pro- viding a chance to excel in dif- ferent areas.
