The crowd listens attentively as Julia Gee gives her 53, , 4MP Graduates 4W With hearts fluttering like the wings of an eagle, the graduating class of 1985 soared across the Wilson Hall stage in their final flight as students of Wilson Hall. Reducing the audience to tears, the 1985 senior class lifted their voices together under the direction of Mrs. Patti Croft, in singing the emotional lyrics to tiLike An Eaglef, As the last lilting strains of uLike An EagleT floated through the gym, the onlookers came to their feet in a standing ovation, choking back sobs of joy. Commencement ceremonies were performed in the Wilson Hall gymnasium on Thursday evening, May 5, 1985. The seniors were proudly escorted by the Junior Soar Into the World Marshals: John Britton, Pitts Har- ris, Tricia Lee, Michele Moses, Allison Stover and Ruth Strong. The honor of presenting the Com- mencement Address was awarded to the President of the University of South Carolina, Dr. James B. Holderman. The inspiring speech given by Dr. Holderman was followed with the Valedictory presentation given by Steve Newman. Julia Gee added to SteveTs stimulating speech with her own Salutatory oration. As the graduates descended the steps, they knew that they now had to walk alone yet could still rely on the guidance received while attending Wilson Hall. Paula Waters embraces a young friend as she and Karen Ferro get ready to celebrate their graduation. Teary eyes can be seen on the graduating class of 1985 as they sing uLike an Eagle.
