The challenge of remembering what books to take to which class threatened the aptitude of these future teenagers. The trip to Washington, DC. launched them into a test of their maturity and education. One good reason the trip was suc- cessful was summarized by Mrs. Segars and Mrs 80995, the fifth grade teachers, uThey are not babies anymore. They are old enough to do what I tell them. The lessons of responsibility learned in fifth grade were essential for next year they will be the leaders, upperclassmen, and role models of many younger students.
