Lots of life could be found on Field Day, evident from the lively expressions of these students. Students were the heart of Wilson Hall and the activities and interests were the heartbeat that gave it life! Weekends brought out the best of our enthusiasm and vitality. Flow ing gowns, clashing tuxedoes, and radiant smiles were evidence of a successful JunioUSenior prom and many hours of hard work. May Court and Graduation were presented in a full array of springtime flowers and energetic sparkle. Homecoming was a time of celebration as alum- nae gathered to watch the Homecoming Queen crowned. The spirit of the ttHalP was reflected in these memorable oc- casions. We were the students headed for the top e we were the up and coming! Student Life Divider e 11

In all its freshness and beauty, Spring brought with it many special activities. One major Springtime celebration was May Day. The 1985 version of May Day held on April 30, included many southern songs and dances and was appropriately titled May Day in South Carolina. The lower school headed off the program with songs about our state. After Steve Newman gave the Welcome and Invocation, the May Court attendants proceeded to the stage and awaited the crowning of the radiant Pam Shuler and Tripp Ballard as May Queen and May King. Then in bobby socks and loafers, junior class couples joined hands to perform the uShag, our state dance. Another famous dance, the ttCharleston, was energetically presented by Wendy Smith, Jennifer Young is innocence at its best as she poses for a picture behind her bouquet of flowers. Members of the Junior class brought the fifties alive again with their rendition of the South Carolina State dance, the Shag. 12 .. May Day A Celebration of Spring Laura Hursey and Elizabeth Lee. An excerpt from the ballet uSwan Lake was executed by four exceptional dance students of the Wilson Hall student body, while the Virginia Reel, an ante-bellum dance, was presented by members of the sophomore class. Nothing could have been finer than to have listened to the Wilson Hall senior chorus sing uCarolina in the Morning, and then Darren 'Rhodes displayed his musical talents by sing- ing South Carolina on my Mind. After the traditional May Pole dance and finale of uStand up for South Carolina, May Day came to an end with recessional of the May Court attendants. Parents spent long hours of work preparing the decorations in the gym for the annual May Court festivities, The fifth graders added gaiety to the springtime atmosphere as they delighted the audience with the annual May Pole dance.
