Cowering away, Jet Turner is net FaSt-Break match as John Britton pulls down a Barons . I L V strong rebound, The goal of every young basket- ball player - playing on the varsity team. No other school in the state has produced such magnificent teams year after year. Despite having a shakey start this season, the Varsity Barons played like the true champions they were and remained unbeaten in Con- ference. New head coach, Mark Roach, was determined to uphold the winning tradition at the Hall and he did so admirably, using his own coaching and the raw talent of the young men. Capitalizing on their strengths, the Barons counted on the ttbig three, Tommy Wilson, John Britton, and Trey Harvin, for re- bounding and inside shooting. Three- point shots were also no stranger to Tommy Wilson, and to make this years senior arsenal complete, the Barons were known to be a fast-break team. Each challenge, whether it was a super player or a carpet gym floor at Cardinal Newman, was met with a team effort that gave the Barons their own touch of class. Other teams adopt the slogan ttWait ttil next year! but the Baron fans can take pride in the honest effort and success provided by the 1985-86 Varsity Boys Team. The Dunk gets 'em going and Brian Graham does it right in warm-ups.

Taking control of the court, Pitts Hams tries to find an open man. Showing his form, Gene Gee shoots as Mur- rell Smith looks on. Baron players do different things while they are in the huddle, but all ears are listening intently to the coach. - 110 .. Boy's Varsity Basketball Keeping the Mark Putting out one hundred and ten percent effort was what it took for a varsity player to ttkeep the mark. Not only did the players put out that much effort at practice but that much and more in games. Total dedication was what it took. Grades have to be kept up, and if they dropped, so was the player. Making an awesome team took hours of prac tice every nigh and getting home late meant sta ing up late with homework. 4 Away games brought the tea back late also, with the players no returning sometimes until midnight according to Scott Jones. But, giv ing all it had paid off for th players. It brought them a sense 0 dedication, pride and lots of sweat.
