Not to Be Forgotten The 1985 Fall Banquet was an athletic gathering not soon to be forgotten. The wonderful covered-dish meal was prepared and taken to the American Legion Hut by the athletes' parents. After the meal and fellowship, football and volleyball players and cheerleaders eagerly awaited the announcing of the award winnersi names. The memories were both serious and humorous, ranging from the Seniors receiving their jerseys to the jokes of Coach McCord. As the Seniors ac- cepted their trophies, the sparkle in their eyes was passed to every younger athlete pre- sent, and the desire to someday be in their place and accept that award ensured the upcoming Fall Banquets to be as great as this one was. Beth Dunlap prepares to send the ball back across the net to the Skyhawks. With Coach McLaughlin in the middle, the Lady Barons come together and show their spirit. Fall banquet award winners Susan Creech, Christie Hall, Tracy Adler, Craig Shipman, Johnny Shaw, Jamie Glasscock, Don Blanding, Jamie Smith, Bucky Fidler, David Abrams, Darren Rhodes, Gene Gee, Heath Hoover, Bill Lenz, W. Another Baron point appeared on the scoreboard as the ball bounced untouched between the members of the other team. This yearis nine member volleyball team consisted of three Seniors, four Juniors and two Freshmen. Although the team won no matches, they won many games, working well together to defeat other teams with much more ex- perience. By the end of their season, the team had improved greatly and showed it by their quick moves and the closeness of the scores. An old favorite was brought back to the Hall this year -- Intramural Volleyball. Each homeroom in grades 7-12 had a team that par- ticipated, with Mrs. Thomas's homeroom emerging as the cham- pions. With all the volleyball action around the school this year, it was evident that volleyball is certainly an up-and-coming sport at Wilson Hall. 104 .. Volleyball

Die Hard Fans . . . Our Bleacher Creatures Friday night I left the two ponchos my father had begged me to take and headed for the Hall to see some Baron football. It slowly started raining as I sat down, and it never slacked. My nylon jacket was useful for half of an hour, until the rain came down in buckets and thudded on my jacket like heavy raps on a wooden door. As the crowd started to thin, I noticed the people leaving all had Olympic size umbrellas. I jumped up and screamed, IIWait a minute, where are you people with umbrellas going? I was near my breaking point when I saw Marie James holding an umbrella. I shared her cover as we moved into the stands. Things were looking up as we scored again and I noticed there were now seven people under MarieIs um- 106 e Fans brella. The rain stopped as I trudged toward the car. I would have stayed, weather or not, for the rain wasnIt too bad. The Barons won and pneumonia diant. I guess they have to wait a little longer to carve A DIE HARD FAN! over me. Sophomore Bleacher Creatures gather for an exciting home football game. First grade miniature cheerleaders add lots of spirit in the home football stands.
