Athena blessed the bright young creature. To the Class of 1949 we express our gratitude for compiling this record of the seventy-eighth year in VVilson's history. Here is refutation of the oft quoted saying, 'lyou ca1i't take it with you. YVe can and will use this book as a constant reminder of those intangible things which all of us take with us when we leave XVilson. This prompts nie to propose a riddle: The more you take away, the bigger it growsg what is it? The answer, obviously-a college. May you, the Class of 1949, take so much away from this college that VVilson, through your i11Huence and achievement, will expand to embrace-all. lX'lARGARET CRISXVELL DISERT, Dean

Iupiter blessed the bright young creature. ,. .,..f' A college is only a setting. The really important thing is what happens there. These pages bear the record of many collcge events, and they will serve as a permanent reminder of life at Wilson in 1947-48. t But, fine record as it is, this volume-like every volume of the kind-can tell only part of thc story. For no book can describe the inner meaning of college-the growth of pcrccption and understanding. the widening sympathies, the sense of achievement through hard work, thc discovery of friends. and-most important of all-the discovery of oncsclf. Here is skillfully recorded everything that can be put in print and picture. Thcsc other things every reader will End rccordcd in her own mind and memory, Where thc hnal rccord is kept. PAUL SWAIN HAVENS, President
