It may be around the corner. Or a million miles away. But I know it will be worth waiting for. And be better than what I’ve got today. And hope will be my escort, And faith will be my guide. My dreams will keep me safe On my lonely ride. Somewhere out there. There’s freedom for the asking. Someu’here out there. There's peace for everybody. People may say that I'm a dreamer; I wish they'd understand. If only we would try To give each other a helping hand. Somewhere out there The children are not hungry. And somewhere out there The eagles soar above us. And if you think I can find it. You're welcome to come along. I hope everyone will join us. And our voices will be raised in song. And peace will be our escort. And brotherhood our guide. And God will keep us safe On our joyous ride. by Thomas M. Gergal The Class of 1981 wishes to dedicate this page in rememherance of Thomas M. Gergal who was killed in a tragic accident on July 29, 1979. Tom will remain in the memory of his classmates and friends. He was the president of our Sophomore class and an active contributor on our school newspaper staff. All of us who knew Tom, remember him as an active member of our class. Tom was fond of books and movies. His dream was to become a part of the field of journalism. Tom's sense of humor enlightened the days of those who knew him. This is why we are pleased to dedicate this page to him. 32 SENIOR CLASS ADVISORS . Can L. Marshall T. There we were at the bottom of the ladder again; being called the little seventh graders.” It was really a big change for us—bells ringing, lockers, homework, changing classes, all the pushing and shoving, and not knowing what to expect next. Wilson and Ransomville students began to unite and friendships were made that would last a lifetime. Starting eighth grade we felt more comfortable in school and all the big changes seemed smaller. We enjoyed no longer being the littlest kids in school, and it felt good to ahave some underclassmen to look down on. Freshmen at last! It was our first year to elect class officer’s. We were the first freshman class to win first place' for our float at homecoming. Our first chance to compete in interscholastic sports. Our first class picnic (on school grounds, but complete with water ballons and shaving cream) and really the first time the year 1981 had a special meaning for us. Tenth grade we finally got a real say in what courses we wanted to take. Most of us went into Biology—the worms, the grasshoppers, and the smell! Some of us investigated the chance to take B.O.C.E.S. The year ended all too quickly with a fun-filled picnic at Old Fort Niagara. In Eleventh grade our big event was getting our rings. We walked around with our hands in front of our faces so that everone noticed. The magazine sale was a success, the submarine sale was a big success, the Junior-Senior Prom at the Ramada Inn in Niagara Falls was fun, and Akron Fall survived our class picnic. It never really hit us that being Seniors wasn't that far off until Moving Up Day when the Junior sign was torn down and the word Seniors appeared. We all sat with tightened throats realizing we were now Seniors! SENIORS! The year started with homecoming. We realized from the beginning that these would be our last high school events so we strived to make each a success—the magazine sale, candy sale, dance, and the play. We shared a lot of close times, both happy and sad, with our friends. All too quickly the final events of high school life were coming—the Senior trip, the prom, class night, all night party, and finally commencement exercises and graduation. We are all anxious to pursue our plans for lifetime careers. 4s each of us goes his own way, we will always remember Wilson Central School, friends, and the Old Days. SENIOR AUTOGRAPHS To The Future The clocks have ticked off in seconds the calendars were marked off in days And now our senior year has come to an end Leaving us to reminisce those memories of our high school days. But our lives do not end here: We must journey on a new road and reach now for our goals and destinies unknown. For we are only beginning to uncover what the future holds we will not all take the same direction, but for all of us some future lies ahead. The future is like a fresh new path of snow: Be careful how you walk for every footprint will show. I wish you all the best of luck in every step you take, and I hope that all of you will always try to make the most of yourselves in the life that lies ahead. For when the time comes for you to look back at all of the things you got around to doing, I hope that all of you will be proud and cherish the life that you got around to living. Tracy Mulcahy President The Junior class officers must keep their class together and work hard to prepare for their final year at W.C.S.
