M. G. HOFFMAN The death of Miss M. Gazelle Hoffman, Superintendent of Schools in School District number 3, was a blow to education in Niagara County that will long be felt. A staunch advocate of school centralization she helped consolidate the schools under her jurisdiction into three centralized systems. She became an authority on school law, and served, at one time, as President of the New York State Association of School Superintendents. Miss Hoffman was esteemed and respected by her colleagues and even though death has ended her work the centralized schools of this area stand as a memento of her achievements. MISS M. GAZELLE HOFFMAN MR. MARKS With the death of Mr. Thomas E. Marks during the school year we lost a good friend of education and a tireless worker on its behalf. - His twenty-three years on the Board of Education spanned a period which saw scattered one-room school houses in the district develop to the modern functional central school we have today. He was ever ready to give his time and effort to any cause which would improve educational opportunities for boys' and girls in rural areas. An active member of church, farm, and community organizations, his loss has been felt deeply in those areas as well as in the field of education. MR. THOMAS MARKS 3
