ftl - ' • ' ■ 4 - M This yearbook is dedicated to Mr. Thomas Marks, President of the Boarc of Education, who has devoted much of his life improving the education of the boys anc girls of the Wilson Central District. This fine building and other educational facilities that we have are due in great part to the perseverance of and the sacrifice of time anc effort by Mr. Marks. CONTENTS PAGE ADMINISTRATION................ 6 SENIORS........................ 14 CLASSES........................ 30 ACTIVITIES .................. 46 ATHLETICS ..................... 64 FOREWORD We the class of '54 have discovered, as we progressed in our understanding of life, that elements previously meaningless are beginning to form themselves into a recognizable pattern. Most have discovered that the pattern is a maze where, without help, one can become lost. Our teachers and parents have been that help - the guideposts in directing us in the right channels within this pattern of life. Differentiating between right and wrong will be entirely up to us in the future, and we shall find most valuable that set of codes instilled in us during our school life at Wilson. We hope that this Crest is an illustration of the pattern that exists within our school — one part of the pattern of life, and that we, as Seniors, have more fully grasped the true meaning of the complexities of life. Administration MR. THOMAS MARKS Board of Educatior Although most Seniors have had little contact with the members of the Board of Education, we all realize that they have generously contributed their time, thought and effort to provide us with an education, equal to any in New York State. MR. EARL BRYDGES MISS M. GAZELLE HOFFMAN Superi n ton dent MR. RUSSEL HURLBl MRS. LEONA BLACKLOCK MR. JAMES CORNEI Clerk Principal If the pattern of living which you have begun so well at Wilson Central School proves to be a reliable plan for the future, our pride in the class of 1954 will truly be justified. L. ERNEST TARR My words to the Class of 1954 are written as Advisor and friend. Try to be all that you, as an educated American citizen, should be. CLAYTON D. LOVEJOY Graduation is a time of mixed emotions; joy in the attainment of another goal in your lives, sorrow in the realization that you are leaving us. Best of luck and success to all of you. PETER B. SAGGESE As your class graduates, we at the school will remain continually interested in how our “product” stands in today’s world. We certainly wish you well. W. It performed at both the Senior and Juniorplays. The band went to the Music Festival and also played at the Seniors’ graduation. Outstanding this year was the fact that members of the band organized a Pep Band which was student directed. This newly formed organization played at all the home football and basketball games. The team had nine veterans back from last year and four men new to varsity competition. Because of conditions in our gymnasium, the Wilson five had yet to pfac-tice with baskets and playing in “hot” and cold’’ streaks, split the league defeating each team once and bowing to each team once. Despite the wet spring, which limited practice. Coach Hutch shaped these men into a closely knit club which, as always, represents the typical Wilson school spirit and its high degree of sportsmanship. The prospects for next year appear to be something like this. Catching - hard hitting Clayt Schultz. Pitching - Chuck Boyer, Otto Myers and Bob Moody. First base - Gordie Schultz; second base - Denny Walp; short stop - Arnie Drews; and third base -Marty Volls and Rog Winters. I I Left to Right: M. Demeter, B. Yoder, G. Contara, R. McCarthy, M.
