FOREWORD The years have passed by, some quickly, some with agonizing slowness. We've worked or played through these years. We've learned and experienced only as much as we have permitted ourselves to, as we prepared for our niche in life. The real world is out there waiting in anxious anticipation for every one of us, each as a unique individual. LES MEMOIRES is mere ink and paper. The painting of Eastern Overa1l's wall may have been the biggest controversy of our senior year. After the preliminary meetings in the spring of 1976 design 5 was presented to the wall committee by Chris Young. In the fall of 1976 design 6 was presented by Mike Stout. Design 7 was submitted by a group of seniors. Design 3 was modified into design 4. Finally design 2, drawn by Sue Fisher, was derived from 4 and 6 . The decision was made at a class meeting to disregard the previously taken votes. The class members present compro- mised and decided to submit the sketch to Mr. Shapiro, owner of Eastern Overall, for approval. He rejected the idea saying that he preferred a symbol to a slogan. Consequently design 1 was contrived and ultimately became our wall. Many seniors were disillusioned by the perplexing meet- ings, the hassles and the divided class. They considered the permission slips and arrangements making annoying details. When we reminisce about our wall, enough time will have passed by for us to realize a few important facts that got lost in the shuffle. We did paint a wall, we did have fun, and we did prove that the Class of 7'7 does have pride in our class 55 Z and in our school.
