You counseled and advised us in our time of need, and you brought humor, warmth, and understanding into our lives. You devoted many hours of teaching, working, and having fun with us. Ronald Ronald Katheleen Zelasko Zimmerman Eike In Memoriam We linger here a little while, And then are gone Like ghostly dews that disappear When comes the dawn, And like the flaming dawn that dies, Before the day, Which fades, when darkness falls, we too Soon pass away. But since the dew returns to kiss The trembling grass, Since darkness comes and dawning makes The shadows pass, I laugh at Death for when I go From hill and glen, I know that I shall leave this day To live again. Edgar Daniel Kramer Craig Green 29 Mike Mulcahy Mike came to Wilson as a foreign exchange student from Sidney, Australia on january 13, 1973. During his stay here he lived with several different families, the last one being the Slicks. This summer Mike went on a tour of the U.S., citing some of his favorite places as New Orleans, Chicago, San Francisco, the Grand Canyon, and Yosemite National Park. He feels the U.S. is very beautiful and the people are friendly. Mike thinks that people overseas tend to consider U.S. citizens as unfriendly, and feels that these opinions could be changed if they would have a chance to meet some people from here. Some of Mike's favorite memories of Wilson are Mr. Laubach's English classes, football games, and wrestling meets..He feels that school in Australia is more strict, and there are not as many extra curricular activities available there. Mike says that we eat too many hot dogs and hamburgers, and lists his favorite foods he tried here as marshmallow fluff, pigs-in-a-blanket, and shoo-fly pie. Mike left Wilson on january 9, 1974. He will not graduate in Australia until November, 1975. When he finishes school he plans to study architecture at the University of Sidney. Mike would like to thank all of the students and teachers at Wilson for making his stay an enjoyable one. 'hm-. W -if 1 ,... ,M S5 1' be 5 , w 2 l iii! X 2 a The Warrior Band went hunting for national honors during the Lions International Convention in Miami. The Lions Club's legendary blue ribbon for best high school band floated over Wilson High School's Warrior Band, con- ducted by William Curnow. They arrived home No. 1 among the 35 high school bands in the competition, and third of all 53 groups taking part. They also took third place in competition for musical aggregations, competing against 52 entries. The band's twirlers placed second in the international competition. Thousands of anxious band fans lined Northampton Street to welcome the band home. Tired and hot from several hours on the road, and delayed by a flat tire, the 140 band members, twirlers and advisors arrived in Wilson about 9 p.m. Tuesday, july 3. After stepping from the four buses, the Warriors grabbed their instruments and marched victoriously to the park. This great honor was the result of two years of grueling work in the rehearsal room and on the field including daily and occasional twice-daily practice sessions prior to departure for Miami. Also, in their two years of effort, the Wilson band boosters raised 527,000 to help send the musicians and twirlers to Miami. This fall, when they took the field to begin the 1973-74 season, the admiration of their peers for this memorable honor was known to all. 31 CHAMPS F 73 1' .ff ..- wtf milf 1 W f1 Q. Karen's and Terri's artistic talent rivals that of the famed Picasso and Michaelangelo!! Lori and Kenny, our good natured seniors, always have a friendly greeting and a smile for everybody. Santa brought Mike a curling iron for Christmas as testified by having the curliest hair in school. After letting their hair grow for 17 years, Sue and Don finally got an award for their efforts. Cindy's and Ron's continuous snickers, hoots and howls can be heard throughout the building on any school day. W it Even with loe's platform shoes and Bic's flat feet they'll still never see eye to eye. 2 lil 39 Even in these inflationary times, Elain and Dave won't have any trouble making their millions. Kay and Howard, our most intelligent seniors, crack the books as they try to crack the secrets of life. Linda and jeff, our most athletic seniors, are our choice to go to the Olympics in 1976. To talk or not to talk is not the question . with Lynn and Ed. It is what to talk about. 1 9 SECTION 9-1: 1st Row-T. Coffman, L. Ackerman, R. Buffham, M. Bertolino, B. Banko, D. Benner, C. Adams, K. No one who has had the experience of seeing and hearing the Wilson Borough High School Band and Chorus can have any doubt that these two groups possess some exceptionally fine talent. Among those re- cognized for their talent are as follows: Gayle Wieand, Mike Coyle, joe Roccaro, Charles Snyder, Ed. McQuillin, and Dave Walters became Dis- trict Band Members, while Gayle, Dave, and Mike succeeded in becoming members of District Orchestra. However, the competition was not yet over as Gayle, Mike, and joe continued on to become members of Regional Band, with Gayle and Mike ably overcoming all competition by becoming, finally, members of Regional Orchestra. ln the vocal department, Gale Young, Gayle Wieand, Diane Simonetta, and Marge Deemer made Dis- trict Chorus, with Gayle, Diane, and Marge becoming members of Regional Chorus. From the opening kickoff of the humid Saucon Valley game to the waning minutes of the frigid Emmaus night match, the Warriors gave 1000!o. A few of the season's highlights came with a 2-1 overtime victory over Southern Lehigh, when jim Eckert turned to fistacuffs against Easton, and j.R. Schroeder was elected to All-League center half. It was an enjoyable year for the Warriors, and the booters enjoyed kicking their opponents around the field. Kneeling-L. Behler, F. Reiss, B. Bond, S. Shafer, L. Weidner, 1. Morris, I. Butto, C. HOCKEY To be 431 was only an arms length away, but it slipped through the Warriorettes' fingers when they were defeated by their first place rival-Parkland. However, one defeat didn't dampen the Hockey Team spirit, as it thrust onward toward the big game against Southern Lehigh- the Warriorettes' second place adversary. During the Solehi match, the weather was crisp, only stirring the girls' enthusiasm even further. The result, however, was a Southern Lehigh victory.
