Man of the Year For Man of the Year we nominate john Derkac, who has been a teacher in our industrial arts department for nine years. When Mr. Derkac came to Wilson, this department was expanded to include plastics, art metal, wrought iron, machine metal, basic electricity, and home mechanics. At the present time Mr. Derkac is instructor in wood- work. He is faculty adviser of the stage crew, which erects scenery for plays, operettas, band concerts. junior proms and other dances, commencements, and many other com- munity projects, He is also adviser of the Freshman Model Club. Active in the field of sports, Mr. Derkac was assistant football coach from 1947-1949, junior high school basket- ball coach from 1947-19505 and has been scout for varsity football for the last seven years. For his unselfish service in the interest of the school, for his friendly guidance and cheerful personality, we are happy to dedicate this volume of Les Memoires to 1 JOHN DERKAC 4
