lt rs an honor for the class of 1941 to pay trrbute to a man who has been assocrated vsrth Wrlson Hrgh School for twenty five years For the last srv years wrth hrm rs our leader we have learned the lessons of wrsdom loy altx sportsmanshrp and drscrplrne J Harry Dew came to Wrlson Borough rn 1916 and vsas made prrrrcrpa of Wrlson Hrgh School durrng the 1917 1918 term A na rve of Nantrcoke Pennsylvanra he was graduated from the Nantrcoke Hrgh School the Eas Stroudsburg State Teachers College and lV1t1hlenberg College When Mr Dew came to Wrlson Borough Wrlson Hrgh School was a three rear three teacher school we larch occupred a feve rooms on the second floor of the Hay Burldrng Students veho wrnted to attend colleges or normal schools had to complete therr course 'et Easeon Hrgh School Under Mr Dew s gurdance the status of NVrlson Hrgh School has been rarsed to rts present hrgh standa d l 1919 fourth year wrs added anl rn the Class of 1920 Srnce that trme the sehool has expanded and rmproved ln 1921 a com mercral department was added Wrth me completron of the new burldrng came manual arts health musrc physrcal educatron home economrcs and nnally 1940 fine arts lmhrs year Wrlson Hrgh School has 27 teachers and four supervrsors Durrng thrs trme lVlr Dew s first rnterest has been the welfare of Wrlson Hrgh School He has kept rn close touch wrth every phase of our hrgh school lrfe the courses of study athletrcs musrc dramatrcs clubs and school publr catrons A man of energetrc personalrty and srneerrty of purpose he has set before us the hrghest rdeals of character and crtrzenshrp He has always placed character trarnrng before the acqursrtron of factual knowledge Srnce Mr Fursts death Mr Dew has been actrng superrntendent of schools However he refused the opportunrty to become superrntendent per manently statrng that hrs prrmary rnterest lres rn hrs assocratron wrth Wrlson Hrgh School Hrs crrterron has been for every student to work to hrs rndrvrdual capacrty and for every student and graduate of Wrlson Hrgh School to reflect credrt on hrs Alma Mater We heartrly congratulate lVlr Dew for hrs twenty frve years of successful and rnsprrrng work wrth the boys and grrls of Wrlson Borough and we hope that for many years to come the s udents of Wrlson Hrgh School may have the advantage of hrs wrse counsel Let rt be the arm of every member of the Class of 1941 to lrve up to the standards that Mr Dew has set for us durrng the years when we have been establrshrng a foundatron for our futu e lrves Ten .
