Today, we find ourselves indebted to our school for the many opportunities afforded us. These benefits can not be enumerated one, two, three--but rather they may be singled out in the growth and maturity we have at- tained, the successes we enjoy, and the contributions we make tomorrow. le would like to believe that we have made a contribution to the ex- istence andthe continued well-being of our school. With this thought in mind our class history becomes ates- timonial, at least in part, and a challenge to the classes that are to follow us. In presenting this chal- lenge, by reviewing our accomplish- ments we are aware that we are about to make what we so unjustly referred to as a mistake by the classes that preceeded us during our undergradu- ate years. Surprisingly enough when you become seniors, this so-called challenge inthe form of a resume of your successes becomes tempered by the thought, have they been adequate? We are indebted to Dan, Shirley, Phares, Carol, Barb, L. D., Sandra, a.nd Darlene for their leadership as they have served us well as class officers and organizational leaders. By way of recognition,we would like to extend a vote of confidence to our senior officers: class presi- dent, Danny Parks, vice-president, Sandra Peterson, secretary-treasurer Shirley J. Smithsongstudent council president and president of the Hi-Y, Phares 0. Brossg Y-Teen president, Shirley Smithsong and business man- ager ofthe annual, Darlene Whittemore. In music with clarinets, cornets, trombones, and drums-Elaine, Carol, Shirley, Sandra, Darlene, Dan, Gail, Phares, Ronald, and L. D. have swel- led the ranks of the band. Festival ratings one and two both instrumental and voice have gone to Shirley, Dan, Elaine, Sandra, Carol, Gail, L. D., and Darlene. Sandra, Elaine, and Carol number among the members of the sextetg a.nd L. D., Gail and Dan are three of four in quartet. lhen final roll is taken in glee club all may be accounted for. Hi-Y and Y-Teen have 100 per cent representation from our class, and the whole-hearted, active support of our members whether the project be 'blankets for Pusan or the sponsor- ship of a trip to the State Fair. Athletics have benefited by the efforts of Dan, Phares, Gail, L. D., and Loren as two county championships in basketball and four in track have been won during the years 1950--Sh. Dan has gained further recognition in trackby scoring victories in the regional and the Ottawa and Kansas Relays. Sandra, Shirley, Carol, and Darlene are letter award winners and have contributed heavilyto the suc- cesses enjoyed byour girls' basket- ball teams. Schrammel award winners include Elaine and Shirley in algebra, Elaine in general science,Phares in shop I, and Shirley and Elaine in typing I. Other activities not here-to-for mentioned but of equal importance and long to be remembered are: our class plays , I.et's Face It' and June Graduate , and our junior-senior banquets with their colorful themes 'Red Sails in the Sunset and 'Even- ing in Paris. The latter of which wewerefbe guests of theClass of '5S. Before the final curtain is rung down on the activities of the Class of '5h, we will have the results of the Schrammels andthe regional track meet. We hope additional successes may be ours, the Class of '5h. ADAM BLACKSMITH SHOP PAGE SPONSORED BY: AND LLOYD BURNS v Ka' ff 'S v i A31 Q 1 MD w B ' Jr- Q!
