F. H. A. The Wilmot F, H. A, has been a very active organization. The of- ficers this year are Lou Ann Krohn, President, Dorothy Reiter, Vice Presi- dent, Beverly Kaphengst, Secretary-Treasurer, Mildred Singleton, Assistant Secretary-Treasurer, Darlene Meyer, Student Council Representative, and Mrs. Burdick the Home Economics teacher is our faculty advisor, The only necessary requirement for entrance into this organization is one year of Home Economics. This year we invited the Lake Geneva chapter for a Valentine's party. We share our likes and dislikes, thereby enjoying it very much. Candy sales gave us money to operate so we could continue to be a part of this world-wide group. Our colors are red and white and our emblem is round, with a small house nestled in two hands representing our motto, Toward New Horizons . This expresses the purpose of our organization--learning to live better in order that our lives and those of our families may be better tomor- row. Our flower, the rose, contributes beauty to the group. A red rose is symbolic of vibrant, glowing health-a necessary attribute for happiness, and efficiency in home and life, as well as in our Wilmot F. H. A.

A. has become one of Wilmot's most active groups. lt has recently started a hog project in which the group loaned two young gilts to active members of the group. Afterwards each boy returns two gilts to be loaned to two more active members. The F. F. A. insures against loss of the gilts. On March 16, i950 two judging teams went to Wauke- sha to compete against other teams of the area. In a field of nineteen the senior team placed a high fourth. F. F. A. The F. F. A. is made up of boys who take vocational agriculture. Mr. Knight is the chapter leader with Francis Milner, the president, Myron Schultz, secretary, Dick Scott, treasurer, Tom Jester, Student Council, and the vice president is Warren Meredith. The F. F. A. in general is designed to instruct farm youth in leadership and participation in public affairs, and to teach them to work together. It prompts activities that require a group to carry out and provides enterprises that would not be otherwise available to its members. We send delegates to the annual regional meeting at Greenlake, Wisconsin every other year, The purpose of this meet is to become acquaint- ed with the activities of other chapters and to get ideas and instruction in the way in which our chapter should be run. Trips to the International Stock Show in Chicago and the like are partially financed by the organization. Our chapter also provides a swine project for its members in which the chapter takes all risks of operation and the individual receives all of the benefits. A basketball team was formed which went to a tournament at Waukesha after winning a couple of games played with nearby chapters. Although this group is a part of a national organization, the chap- ter is more interested in the interest of its members, and thus doesn't follow the rules of the national group too closely.
