CARNIVAL l95l! As usual in the fall, the question of whether or not to have the carnival, came before the faculty, the student council, and the student body, and, as usual, all these organizations voted unanimously to have one. King and Queen candidates were chosen by each class and the talents of all interested in dramatics centered on the writing of the plays to be presented at the carnival. The King and Queen contest, too, became the central topic of conversation for all of us for the time of its duration. There were rumors of donation checks, secret alliances, and many other undercover tricks but in the end all cleared up and, of course, no one was cheated. On the night of the carnival a good crowd enjoyed the skits, put on by the music department, the Spanish Club, and the Dramatics Club, as well as those put on by the classes. Con- cessions were set up in the basement and movies of the old graduates were shown. The High-Light of the evening was the crowning ofthe Carnival King and Queen which was followed by a dance. The Senior candidates Richard Brehm and Lou Ann Krohn were crowned by the Junior candidates Ray Snyder and Jean Reynolds The Sophomore candidates George Schmidt and Beverly Ellis together with the Freshmen Robert Brehm and Carol Martin were also honored at the coronatxon and dance ln winning the contest the seniors Set an all time high for tickets sold It is doubtful if their record of Sl l5O 50 will ever be equaled The money realized by the carnival was divided among the school activities The following organizations benefited Camera Club Student Council B A A Music Department Jr Prom Winter Formal LJ amatics Club Faculty Room and The Panther A total of S2 642 OO was taken in by the event Since expenses were not heavy the activities realizea a nice sum for the carrying out of their plans 3 I I Y I ' I I I I , . . 2 : , . . -, , Q . PROM SCENE Kung and ueen Our Junior Prom was held in the school auditorium, May 19, 1951. The music was furnished by Richard Kent and his orchestra. Saturday Night in Cen- tral Park , was the theme, of the old fashion setting. The walls in the back- ground were blue, with white buildings silhouetted on the blue. ln the center of the gym was placed an old fashioned Iamplight with a circular bench placed around it. The refreshments were served at a wishing well, while at one side of the stage the orchestra was seated in an old fashion grandstand effect. At the entrance of the gym was a small bridge which was covered with vines. The lighting filled the gym with shadows and small lights, representing a moonlit night. GRAND MARCH The faculty sponsors were Mrs. Burdick and Mr. Alby, The grand march was lead by the King and Queen, Norman Epping and Donna Hansen, with their attendants, Bob Meredith, President of the Junior class and his date, Barbara Hild, Phil Brehm, President of the Senior class, and Dorothy Reiter.
