The winner of the contest would receive a free round-the-world trip, lasting eighty days. In order to be eligible, an entry had to be filed and a composition written con- taining eighty words telling why the contest- ant wanted the motion picture revived on the screen. I remembered this picture winning the academy award in my senior year of '57. The only thing to be changed in the picture was the voice of the commentator. After ten years, the original commentator's voice sound- ed rather out-moded, so the new and talented radio and TV announcer, ANNE CAVANAUGH, was selected for the job. Naturally I entered, and surprisingly, I won the contest. Iumping with excitement, I raced down to the studio to hear more about the planned trip. It sounded fantastic - like a wonderful dream. A few days later, after stopping off at PAUL MacMULLEN'S drug store to buy a package of Qum, I was driven to the airport in HOBAN'S taxi. Dick had started the cab company after graduation from high school - he loved to drive! We arrived at the airport just minutes before the plane was ready to leave. The stew- ardess, IUDY GRATCYK, came out to help me board the plane. She was smiling, for it re- -minded her of all the times we had to run for the train together. She introduced me to an- other old classmate. WARREN HUPPER, the pilot. The first stop on dur flight was London, England. Of course, one of the best sights there is Buckingham Palace, and three of the palace guards turned out to be THOMAS CRAIG, DAVE CALHOUN and IOHN HAMMOND. Well they all looked great in their bright uniforms and tall hats. I remembered that SARA IANE MARSH was now in business in her native land. I did- IOAN HUNNEFELD n't know what type of business, but decided to find out. It was certainly something new and different. She gave lessons on How to Speak With a Real English Accent, to foreigners who didnft want to feel out of place. She offered to give me a few free lessons, but I didn't have the time. I noticed a few of her pupils were old classmates - BARB HODGDON, PENNY MCCABE, MERRILYN WEBB, and KAY CAL- NAN. I happened to glance up at Big Ben, the famous clock, and saw someone cleaning its huge face. An advertisement on the stag- inf! read - KELL'S CLEANING SERVICE - from cars to clocks. Since I wanted to visit France, I took a boat across the English Channel. News reporters on the boat seemed to be interested in some- thing far ahead in the water. I inquired about it, and was told that RUTH HOWELL, an Amer- ican, was swimming the Channel in record time. Paris, the center of attraction in France, was the city I visited next. Imagine my sur- prise to see CAROL CURRIER'S name in lights above one of the famous Paris night clubs. She had become a singer since her acting days at W. H. S. The head waiter, BOB LEONARD, led us to a reserved table, and I noticed sitting close by, leading the applause, were service- men IERRY MALONEY, PAUL BUDD, PAUL ST. I-IILAIRE, and DAVID ABERLE. They were really enjoying themselves on leave. Paris was really an exciting city, so I de- cided to spend a few more days there.
