It has been a pleasure and an honor fo work in behalf of the June Class of 1931, and to record the activities of their f0lll' meinorallle years in Wlil- mington High School. Perhaps in after years, This book may recall some of the many clelighfful experiences which the Class of June 1931 enjoyed together. ffQ 'PHE Enrrolc. Across the waters we could faintly discern the twinkling lights of the city. We were not a moment too soon, for the first rocket whizzed forth into the heavens leaving behind it a golden pathway. Now it burst. All around it were gleaming, sparkling groups of fiery balls. The highest of these balls seem to reproduce the lines of our old Alma Mater. Here to the right was the exact image of Mr. Wagner, the principal, welcoming us to that little world of studies. To the left were the features of our first class President-Milton Keene. Those down below call back memories of our first days within the portals of W. H. S. The confusion of getting to class, the severity of those T. S's, the elevator, and what not were all flashed across that screen of blue. As the first rocket dwindled into nothingness another shot forth. Up, up, it went, ever ascending, until-what a spectacular sight. The very first and topmost of those sparkling masses was the image of Bill Babcock, who was chosen to lead our class through three of those unforgettable semesters at dear old Wiln1ingt.on High. To the right was one of regret. It brought to mind the parting of our friend and principal, Mr. Wagner. Soon the hollow in our hearts was filled with the incoming of Mr. Talbot, our present leader. But hold! All of those incidents have vanished into the vapors of time, and another rocket was on its way. Arching out through space, it let forth a more gorgeous display than the preceding one. Again we saw the familiar face of Bill Babcock, and by his side lVIilton Keene directing us through the last half of our term. Oh! There was a different and a more pleasant sight. It called back memories of our first social function-the B3 party. The premier affair was followed by A3 reception. Our parents were present sharing in the joy, and indeed, joy reigned supreme. Here also was seen a newcomer to Sportsdom in Wilmington High, a girls, golf team. Climbing, ever climbing was the grandest of all the lights. At last it reached its peak, and burst, showering its contents over the heavens. Reigning supreme was our shy, yet capable president, Bill Jones. Next in line was our well re- membered 12B party. Yellow chrysanthemums reminded us of the day we were entertained by the Juniors. Terminating a successful season, our gridiron boys overstepped Forrest Park. Hovering around was the vision of our charity game with Salesianum. Then commenced the last half of those gleaming memories. Bill Jones again led the procession, and surrounding him were Evelyn Pollard, the President's right hand assistant, Laura Owens, keeper of the records, and Milton Keene the guardian of our treasure chest. Further on, we visualize one of our topmost events, the reception to our parents. Opened with addresses by Mr. Talbot and Bill Jones, the remainder of the evening was both enjoyable and interesting. Just above was an odd image. Indeed, it was the likeness of a Japanese maiden and a young Turk. What capers were cut up on Senior Odd Day! The next reminded us of the day we entertained the future graduates in the auditorium. Now was one of glamour and splendor, that memorable Senior Prom. In the Gold Ballroom of the hotel, we danced away the cares and troubles of the past four years. The last visible of those fading lights was our long awaited commencement.. How we remember that solemn occasion as we assem- bled together, and walked down the aisle that last-time. 4 ' ' . . 1 ' ' . 1 H -- V, , .--- , , - Q- J. 1, 4- 3 , ,,-,- ' 'M . - , ,ll AC...
