In Dedication to Paul Hartmann, Jr. Paul Robert Hartmann Jr. was born In Arnold, Pennsyl- vania on September 11, 1938. Growing up in Springdale, PA, Paul, commonly known as Bob by his high school friends, attended Spring- dale High School. He was very active In junior and senior plays, art club, being president of the HhY, and in the yearbook. He was very well liked for his fun-loving and outgoing personality. After graduating, he attended the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he received a BS and MS in art education. During his college career, Paul served as art editor of The Oak. lUP’s yearbook. He married Betty Wi- ley in 1959. Mr. Hartmann went on to teach art in the North Hills School District, then became the district’s art director. During this time, he also served on the Art Education Council of Pennsylvania. In 1967, Paul and Betty adopted their daughter, Kler- sten Anne from the Children’s Home of Pittsburgh. Two years later, in 1969, their son Paul Robert III was bom. In February 1973, Paul joined Wilmington Area School District as assistant principal of the High School. In 1975 he became principal. Mr. Hartmann received his superintendent eligibility certificate from Youngstown State University and Slip- pery Rock State College in the Spring of 1982. After spending 11 years on the Wilmington Area School District, Mr. Hartmann moved on to his new posi- tion as assistant superintendent of the Harborcreek School District of Pennsylvania, during the tall of 1983. The students and faculty at W.A.H.S. will miss his smiles, jokes, and special concern for each of us. char- acteristics that have become so familiar In our lives. He sends his love and best wishes to each one of us who have made his stay at W.A.H.S. one of the best and most memorable experiences of his life. The Wilarean Staff. 16
